Dear Anamika

I think, Saturn is the second most malefic planet in

your chart after Mars. You are considering Saturn as

benefic because it is Lord of 5th and Lord of 4th. OK?

You are correct if we consider general principles of

determining the functional benefics and malefics only.

However, when we apply the principles told in various

other streams of Vedic Jyotish to measure the exact

benefic or malefic nature of the planets in your natal

chart – picture gets reversed. Saturn comes out as one

of the most malefic planet.

During its Vimsottari periods (specially the

sub-period of Saturn), you might get very adverse

results pertaining to the significations of 4th House

(Home, general happiness, peace of mind, property,

mother etc.); 5th House (children, creativity,

romance etc); and 8th House (longevity, defeat or

insult, accidents, sudden losses etc.).

You have been under Jupiter-Saturn dasa from 30th June

2001 to 12th January 2004. Can you provide me your

feedback about what I said above?

I have programmed a “'Vjyotish beneficence scale” in

which the importance of various astrological

parameters has been calibrated very carefully - as

told in ancient Vedic Jyotish texts. In this report,

at times, some special Jyotish principles may

over-shadow the net result obtained through the

normally used Parashari principles to determine the

beneficence of a planet. In such cases, these special

principles will prevail and may reduce (or enhance)

beneficence of a planet considerably.

On 'Vjyotish beneficence scale', Mercury stands out as

the best planet for you. It's Vimsottari-periods will

generally be the excellent periods of your life.

Specially those periods - where Mercury simultaneously

holds portfolios of Mahadasa Lord, Antardasa Lord and

Pratyantar dasa lord (i.e., when you are running under

'Mercury-Mercury-Mercury' dasa, or atleast, Mercury is

the 'Antardasa lord'[AD Lord] ).

On the same 'Vjyotish beneficence scale', Mars has

been determined as the most damaging planet in your

chart. It's Vimsottari-periods will generally be the

trying periods of your life. You need to be extra

cautious when you are under Vimsottari dasa of

'Mars-Mars-Mars' or when Mars is the 'Antardasa

lord'[AD Lord].

In the following report, normally, the values around

zero should be considered as average beneficence while

increasing negative values here denote increasing

malefic nature of the concerned planets in your chart

due to various astrological parameters. Same way,

higher positive values indicate higher benefic nature

of the planets concerned.

However, we have to remember that the terms 'Good',

'Poor' etc. are comparative. Planet-A might be

negative but much less negative than Planet-B. Thus,

when a comparison will be made between Planet-A and

Planet-B, the planet-A will be called 'Good' than

planet-B. In the table below, same concept has been

used. Whatever the maximum and minimum beneficence (or

maleficence) values have been obtained between the 9

planets, a comparative categorization, like

'Excellent', 'Good', 'Worst' etc., has been done

between the available value ranges. Thus, though a

planet might be showing negative value in the table

below, but it may still be far better than some other

planets (with higher negative values) and thus may

have been assigned the category of 'Good' or

'Average'.

In your natal chart, the maximum beneficence value is

111.93 and the minimum beneficence is -123.26.

Sun : -24.62 Inadequate (Slightly negative)

Moon : 30.84 Fair (Slightly positive)

Mars : -123.26 Worst (Very negative)

Mercury: 111.93 Excellent (Very positive)

Jupiter: 7.80 Average (Mixed results)

Venus : 52.82 Good (Positive)

Saturn : -94.05 Worst (Very negative)

Rahu : -68.33 Poor (Negative)

Ketu : 23.33 Fair (Slightly positive)

Best wishes

Shyaam

dear syamji,

As per my little understanding

For a Tula Lagna...

Sani is lord of 4th and 5th and is therefore a yogakaraka planet.

Consequently the natives of this Ascendant will enjoy benefical

results in subperiods of shani

Also in Tula Lagna.

Mangal looses its malefic nature as lord of the angular 7th, and is

an impressionable neutral as the 2nd lord, but its additional status

as a double maraka apparently impels the Sage to classify it as a

malefic, as he did with Sukra for Mesha lagna.

Sukra is designated as a neutral even though it is the lagna lord.

This is readily understandable based on the principle that benefics

ruling angles lose their benefic nature, which is especially damaging

in the case of Venus since it is the strongest benefic. This,

combined with its simultaneous lordship of the banefully neutral 8th

house, is why a normally auspicious lagna lord gets neutralized.

Now Sukra and Mangal are conjunct in Lagna. Sukra and Mangal in Lagna

could cause problems in general life affairs.

In Navamsa: I have Dhana Lagna in Navamsa and Mangal is

functional benefic placed in 5th Kona. So this Mangal is dramatically

improving in Navamsa. Sukra becomes a potent malefic in Navamsa

placed in the 7th.

So the Karma of Mangal is high whereas the one for Sukra is dropping.

can anyone throw some light on this concept?

thanks,

Anamika.
