Namaste friends,

I talked about my researches in Panchanga Pravesha charts a while ago. Please see

vedic astrology/message/43392

As I promised in that mail, here are some examples.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha

Annual Yoga Pravesha (YP) Chart

This chart is cast every year when Sun transits in his natal sign and the sum of

the longitudes of Sun and Moon matches that at birth. In other words, this chart

is cast every year when Sun transits in his natal sign, the Sun-Moon yoga of

birth returns and the fraction of the yoga left matches that at birth. Suppose

someone was born on a Sukla yoga day with 18% of the yoga remaining, when Sun

was in Gemini. That person's annual YP chart is cast when Sun returns to

Gemini, Sukla yoga returns and exactly 18% of Sukla yoga remains.

Interpretation

Interpretation is similar to Tithi Pravesha (TP) charts. The hora lord is the

ruler of the year. One difference is that TP focusses on the watery nature of

Time and YP focusses on the ethery nature of Time. One can use TP charts to

judge prosperity and well-being, while YP can be used for judging

relationships. YP charts are ideal for timing marriage, child-birth,

relationships and meeting important people in life.

Yoga Vimsottari (YV) Dasa

This dasa is the aakaasa tattva (ethery nature) equivalent of Tithi Ashtottari

(TA) dasa. While Venus (ruler of watery nature) is the deity of Ashtottari

dasa, Jupiter (ruler of ethery nature!) is the ruler of Vimsottari dasa. While

tithi shows the watery nature of Time, yoga shows the ethery nature of time.

Find the ruler of the Sun-Moon yoga running. The first dasa belongs to him.

After that dasas, dasas come in the regular Vimsottari dasa order. The dasa

sesham in the first dasa is decided based on the fraction of yoga that is left.

Suppose 20% of Sukla yoga is left when someone is born. As Moon rules over Sukla

yoga, the first YV dasa is of Moon. Because 20% of the yoga is left, 20% of Moon

dasa is left. So the first 2 years are Moon dasa. Next dasa is of Mars and for 7

years. Next dasa is of Rahu and is for 18 years. And so on.

One has to compress 120 years of YV dasa to one year, when using it with annual YP charts.

Example

Take a person with the following birthdata:

April 4, 1970Time: 17:47:13Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East

of GMT)Place: 81 E 08' 00", 16 N 10' 00" Machilipatnam,

India

Lunar Yr-Mo: Saumya - PhalgunaTithi: Krishna Chaturdasi (Ve) (85.99%

left)Vedic Weekday: Saturday (Sa)Nakshatra: Poorvabhadra (Ju) (35.83%

left)Yoga: Sukla (Mo) (4.26% left)Karana: Vishti (Sa) (71.98%

left)

The YP chart of 1993-94 has the following data:

March 23, 1993Time: 15:45:00Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East

of GMT)Place: 81 E 08' 00", 16 N 10' 00" Machilipatnam,

India

Lunar Yr-Mo: Sreemukha - ChaitraTithi: Sukla Pratipat (Su) (88.64%

left)Vedic Weekday: Tuesday (Ma)Nakshatra: Uttarabhadra (Sa) (47.02%

left)Yoga: Sukla (Mo) (4.26% left)Karana: Kimstughna (Ve)

(77.27% left)Hora Lord: Venus (5 min sign: Ar)

In the annual YP chart, Sun is in Pisces like in the natal chart. The Yoga is

Sukla yoga, like in the natal chart. The percentage of the yoga left is 4.26%,

like in the natal chart. One can make a chart for this time to see the events

of the year.

In the rasi chart, Leo rises. Saturn is chara dara karaka (DK) and he is in the

7th house in his moolatrikona! In navamsa, Saturn is yoga karaka and exalted.

Due to his parivartana with Venus (AK), he gives results as if he were in the

9th house in own sign.

Thus, it is possible for the native to get married during the year. Saturn dasa

is a very good candidate for giving the marriage.

Because Sukla yoga is ruled by Moon, the first dasa is of Moon. Only 4.26% of

the dasa is left. Calculations are given below:

Yoga Vimsottari Dasa (useful especially in Yoga Pravesha charts):

Maha Dasas:

Moon: 1993-02-20 (21:33:53) - 1993-03-25 (3:52:22) Mars: 1993-03-25 (3:52:22) -

1993-04-15 (18:06:04) Rah: 1993-04-15 (18:06:04) - 1993-06-12 (3:18:02) Jup:

1993-06-12 (3:18:02) - 1993-08-01 (13:23:19) Sat: 1993-08-01 (13:23:19) -

1993-10-01 (5:47:12) <<<< Merc: 1993-10-01 (5:47:12) - 1993-11-24 (3:29:11)

Ket: 1993-11-24 (3:29:11) - 1993-12-16 (3:32:56) Ven: 1993-12-16 (3:32:56) -

1994-02-18 (16:59:18) Sun: 1994-02-18 (16:59:18) - 1994-03-08 (23:50:23) Moon:

1994-03-08 (23:50:23) - 1994-04-10 (1:08:51)

The native got married on August 1, 1993 at 9:30 pm. Saturn's YV dasa started a

few hours earlier.

Annual Nakshatra Pravesha (NP) Chart

This chart is cast every year when Sun transits in his natal sign and the Moon

returns to his natal longitude. In other words, this chart is cast every year

when Sun transits in his natal sign, the nakshatra of birth returns and the

fraction of the nakshatra left matches that at birth. Suppose someone was born

on a Mrigasira nakshatra day with 18% of the nakshatra remaining, when Sun was

in Gemini. That person's annual NP chart is cast when Sun returns to Gemini,

Mrigasira nakshatra returns and exactly 18% of Mrigasira nakshatra remains.

Interpretation

Nakshatra shows the airy nature of Time. NP charts focus on events relating to

the airy nature of Time. They are apt for seeing diseases, suffering, death and

efforts aimed at gaining strength.

Dasa for Use

Two dasas were found useful with these charts - (1) Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa and

(2) Satabdika dasa. Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa is a variation of Vimsottari dasa,

where there are three cycles. These 27 dasas correspond to the 27 nakshatras.

Satabdika dasa is a conditional dasa lorded by Mrityunjaya. As NP charts show

diseases, suffering and death well, Satabdika dasa is apt.

Example

Take the chart of Rajiv Gandhi:

August 20, 1944Time: 7:11:40Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East

of GMT)Place: 72 E 49' 00", 18 N 58' 00"

Lunar Yr-Mo: Tarana - BhadrapadaTithi: Sukla Dwitiya (Mo) (88.92%

left)Vedic Weekday: Sunday (Su)Nakshatra: Poorva Phalguni (Ve) (71.29%

left)Yoga: Siva (Me) (42.56% left)Karana: Balava (Mo) (77.83%

left)

His annual NP chart data for 1990-91 is given below:

August 21, 1990Time: 18:35:50Time Zone: 5:30:00

(East of GMT)Place: 72 E 49' 00", 18 N 58' 00"

Lunar Yr-Mo: Pramoda - BhadrapadaTithi: Sukla Dwitiya (Mo) (94.48%

left)Vedic Weekday: Tuesday (Ma)Nakshatra: Poorva Phalguni (Ve) (71.29%

left)Yoga: Siva (Me) (37.55% left)Karana: Balava (Mo) (88.96%

left)

In this chart, The 3rd lord Jupiter is exalted in the 7th house (a maraka

sthana). Jupiter is the lord of 22nd Jagannatha drekkana and 64th navamsa. The

7th lord Moon joins 8th lord Sun in 8th. This combination is inauspicious and

shows possible death in the year. Moon is also the weekday lord in the NP

chart.

His annual dasas are shown below:

Sataabdika dasa:

Maha Dasas:

Jup: 1990-07-31 (4:13:25) - 1990-10-15 (5:24:05) Mars: 1990-10-15 (5:24:05) -

1990-12-31 (7:31:07) Sat: 1990-12-31 (7:31:07) - 1991-04-24 (20:28:20) Sun:

1991-04-24 (20:28:20) - 1991-05-14 (14:10:30) Moon: 1991-05-14 (14:10:30) -

1991-06-02 (19:29:14)<<<< Ven: 1991-06-02 (19:29:14) - 1991-07-10 (17:55:49)

Merc: 1991-07-10 (17:55:49) - 1991-08-17 (6:38:17) Jup: 1991-08-17 (6:38:17) -

1991-11-01 (21:51:48)

It can be seen that Moon-Jupiter antardasa as per Sataabdika dasa was running

during May 18-22, 1991. Mr. Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991. Moon is

the 7th lord joining 8th lord and Jupiter is in 7th and is the 22nd drekkana

and 64th navamsa lord.

Vimsottari Dasa - Tribhagi variation (started from Moon):

It can be seen that Sun dasa gave death. This is the 3rd Sun dasa and

corresponds to Krittika. In Sarvatobhadra chakra, Krittika is occupied by Mars

and gets vedha from 2nd lord Rahu. Moreover, in Kalachakra of the annual TP

chart, Krittika is in the corner of the southern spoke ruled by yama! Moreover,

its lord Sun is in 8th with 7th lord in rasi chart. For these reasons, Sun dasa

corresponding to Krittika can give death.

Karana Chaturaseeti Sama Dasa

If a Panchanga Pravesha chart is defined based on Karana, which shows the earthy

nature of Time, it will coincide with Tithi Pravesha chart. Tithi and Karana are

linked. However, there is a dasa that can be used in Tithi/Karana Pravesha

charts for better timing of events relating to career and achievements. This

dasa is a variation of Chaturaseeti Sama dasa, which is a conditional nakshatra

dasa in natal charts. This conditional dasa is applicable in charts in which the

10th lord occupies 10th. The karana-based variation is computed based on Karana.

The lord of Karana owns the first dasa and dasa sesham is based on the remainder

of Karana at birth. After the first dasa, dasas follow the regular Chaturaseeti

Sama dasa order.

Example

Take the native of the first example. Consider the Tithi/Karana Pravesha chart of 1995-96.

March 29, 1995Time: 10:25:02Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East

of GMT)Place: 81 E 08' 00", 16 N 10' 00" Machilipatnam,

India

Lunar Yr-Mo: Bhava - PhalgunaTithi: Krishna Chaturdasi (Ve) (85.99%

left)Vedic Weekday: Wednesday (Me)Nakshatra: Poorvabhadra (Ju) (85.50%

left)Yoga: Subha (Su) (3.60% left)Karana: Vishti (Sa) (71.98%

left)Hora Lord: Mars (5 min sign: Aq)

Because karana is Vishti, ruled by Saturn, the first dasa is of Saturn. As

71.98% of karana is left, 71.98% of dasa is left. The dasa calculations are

shown below:

Karana Chaturaseeti sama dasa (useful especially in Tithi/Karana Pravesha charts):

Maha Dasas:

Sat: 1995-03-16 (2:22:28) - 1995-05-05 (15:12:59) Sun: 1995-05-05 (15:12:59) -

1995-06-24 (11:57:28) Moon: 1995-06-24 (11:57:28) - 1995-08-13 (17:53:16) Mars:

1995-08-13 (17:53:16) - 1995-10-03 (14:37:21) Merc: 1995-10-03 (14:37:21) -

1995-11-23 (15:10:30) Jup: 1995-11-23 (15:10:30) - 1996-01-13 (21:30:37) Ven:

1996-01-13 (21:30:37) - 1996-03-04 (6:47:37) Sat: 1996-03-04 (6:47:37) -

1996-04-23 (12:29:05) <<<<

Saturn is chara amatya karaka (AmK). He is yoga karaka in rasi chart. He

occupies moolatrikona in the 10th house and joins 1st and 5th lords. GL is also

with him. Thus, he promises good happenings in career. Even in D-10, he is the

5th lord and is exalted in 2nd. Thus, Saturn can give a positive event in

career. The native joined a better new job on March 4, 1996.

Warning

The charts and dasas described in this research paper are a result of this

author's researches. They are not directly from the parampara, even though they

stand on the foundation laid by the parampara.

Acknowledgement

The idea of using Sataabdika dasa with NP charts comes from Pt. Sanjay Rath.

When the author was looking for a dasa suitable for karana-based variation for

use in TP charts for focussing on earthy matters, Chaturaseeti sama dasa was

suggested by Pt. Sanjay Rath. The other ideas in this research paper are

author's own ideas.
