Dear Deboo Lund,

 

You have raised a raised a noticeable point. I am not a great jyothishi but

am an humble student of the subject. I feel I could add my thoughts.

 

Astrology is a very liberal translation. The correct word is "Jyothisha".

Jyothi means Light and Isha means everything that persists.

It can be understood as a science that gives light in the present world. My

ignorance in English language will not help in giving you the true

translation of the word.

 

Jyothisha helps a man by giving him a torch in a dark room. The rest, he has

to take care of himself. The theory of fate and freewill is applicable. An

illustration here would not be out of point. Jyothisha indicates to a

starving man that the next day, he will come across a garden, full of apple

trees. When the man reaches the garden (fate), it is by his efforts that he

needs to go and procure the apple for himself. He cannot stand beneath a

tree and expect the apple to fall down (If that was to happen, he would

probably end up getting rotten ones). He needs to go and get things for

himself. This is freewill. By indicating that a man comes across an apple

garden, it is not guaranteed that the person will also eat and enjoy it.

 

You have rightly pointed out that Sonia Gandhi has been rated as the third

most powerful lady. God Bless Her. However, you might have also noticed that

the present period saw the rise of a few industrialists like Narayana Murthy

of Infosys, Azim Premji of Wipro, Tatas etc.

 

If you go by the theory of relativity, things have been better compared to

what was present earlier. Mundane affairs were predicted to be better than

what was prevalent then. The introduction of Liberalization, Privatization

and Globalization into India is a good and positive step. Companies in India

are competing on a global scale. Of course, in a game of life, the graph

need not always be in one direction. It can have opposite movements too. You

should interpret them as you would do of a graph of stock market. If, in a

span of 20 days, the stock prices ended higher except for 5th, 9th, 16th and

20th day, we don't conclude that the market is underperforming because on

the 20th day it went down. You will have to do a trend analysis and look at

the chart on a relative term.

 

About the corruption that is prevalent, I do not agree with your point. I do

recognize the fact that corruption persists, but exponential growth, if any,

should be proved with quantitative data or secondary source references.

 

If a prediction is made, a jyothishi will have made it after considerable

analysis and judgment. If the prediction does not come true, it could mean

that there could be other influences which are not easily identifiable and

beyond the understanding of Man. The world is a creation with complex

mechanisms involved. Understanding of each and every aspect of the

functioning of the globe, hence the solar system and further extending it to

the Universe, could involve a couple of "man lives".

 

When doctors perform surgery, do they guarantee that the patient will

survive? At the same time, the doctor need not necessarily be always correct

in diagnosing the outcome. If we were to look at such points, then it would

be quite difficult for us to find a perfect doctor who has been always

successful.

 

There are these so called "life saving drugs". Then why is that no one has

yet become immortal? Does it mean that the R&D people who have developed

these have to stop researching on getting better and new drugs?

 

There are some things that are beyond the control of man and we all have to

respect that. I am sure you will find my points logical.

Namaste Deboo,

 

Because my name came up, I need to clarify a few things:

 

(1) Pt. Sanjay Rath is not my "pal". He is my guru.

 

(2) I did predict a great period for India during its Libra Narayana dasa (Aug

2002-Aug 2011). However, it is silly to expect India to become number one and

other countries to fall behind in this period. It is also silly to expect

overnight change. Change takes time. It is a slow process. A third world

country does not become a super power in one day or one decade. It is a process

that takes decades. But I reckon that it has started in India.

 

My prediction basically is that this 9 year period will make a huge difference

to India's status in the world. I made this prediction in 2000. Compared to

then, is there no difference in India's status? If you don't think there is

improvement, I can only say you have unrealistic expectations and were

expecting topo much. Moreover, only 2 years of this dasa are over and 7 more

years are still left. My prediction is not that China, USA etc will fall and

that only India will become a Super Power. My prediction is that India will

have a much higher position in the world in 2012 than in 2001 (i.e. relatively)

and India will be a super power, along with other super powers.

 

Instead of looking at India negatively and cynically, try to appreciate the

progress that is taking place (though a lot more still remains).

 

(3) Above all, it is quite possible for my my prediction to go wrong. I made

wrong predictions and will probably make more. There is no need to get charged

up. In any case, I honestly think this particular prediction is not wrong. It

is slowly coming true and anyway there is more time.

 

(4) It is true that astrologers should be humble and try to do more sadhana. I

do my own limited sadhana as time permits and I sincerely try to be humble, but

it is not very easy. We all have some ego and it is tough to overcome. Before we

tell something to others, we should follow it ourselves.

 

(5) BTW, in politics, "doldrums" is a relative word and the distance between

"doldrums" and "the top of the world" is very small. Sonia Gandhi and her party

were in doldrums not long ago. Now they are on top. Who knows where BJP will be

in another year or year and a half?
