Guest guest
OM BRIHASPATAYE NAMAH Dear Ajith and Siva, You make some clear points. But as one who intuitionally feels that persecution of religious leaders does have an influence and connection to mundane events, I struggle to understand why you and others limit your analysis to Shankaracharya of Kanchi, as a limited being. 1stly, i doubt His Holiness Shankaracharya , as a self-realised saint, is suffering at all! 2ndly, It is the universal principle that he represents , as the Pope can to some in the west, of spiritual guidance and law-Jupiter, that is under discussion. Who is God to us? as you say, there are no favourites, the divinty that is in each of us is the same. it is only ignorance that says differently. So what is being said?? In essence, are we listening( jupiter) to that divinity? that truth , that is in all of us? Are we seeing separation ( religious fanatism ) or are we seeing ( jyotisha-light in the three worlds ) advaita.-not two. Can we be the one true witness of this play of creation and include it all ? Play our part fully, but remember who we really are in essence? Or shall we fence off a piece of principal and claim it as our own? Who was it that said "Pain is the shell that encloses our understanding.?" - Kahil Gibran, I believe Can we say that the human suffering of hundreds of thousands of people , could not be also our own? Who hasn't been affected by this horrific catastrophe.? The Bible says " As above, so below" I have always taken this to mean the laws that govern the heavens also play out on earth.and as Plato says, the State is nothing other than the individual writ large. I have also come to realise, a miracle is nothing other than a finer law acting out at a lower level. With this in mind one ponders about the miraculous escape of thousands of animals on Shri Lanka. How is this seen in Jyotish terms? Kind regards Rosemary - Ajith vedic astrology Tuesday, December 28, 2004 1:53 PM [vedic astrology] Earthquake prediction- an affront to human sufferings Dear Siva, I totally agree with your view. The notion that hundreds of thousands had to suffer because a so-called exhalted personage was subject to adharma is an affront not to just rationality but to the religious tenets the world over. I am amazed that we still hold on to the notion of a vengefull God, or here in this case dispropriotanate sense of karma. To beleive in some way that God has favourites is back ward thinking and not consistent with the concepts we learn in jyotish. Additionally it is also ethnocentric, To believe in some way the suffering of Kanchi seer has to be balanced by suffering of hundreds of thousands from all over south asia is totally ridiculous and reeks of religious fanatism. Everything that happens is because of cause and effect. We learn that in Jyotish and yet here we have discussions of how one particular event leading to sufferings that affect thousands. Siva is right. It belittles the suffering and allows for seemingly intellectual rationalisation of human suffering. Regards Ajith Adharma is expressed in various forms at various times by various people and culminates What do we learn about in Vedanta ? That one man is no greater than the other. That the atma that exists in one man, even if he is a saint is the same atma in a sinner and that the jivatama is Note: forwarded message attached.
