Guest guest
Narasimha, I calculated my tithi pravesh chart using JHlite. For year 2004 it gives mne november 19. I was born in margashirsha month , shukla ashtami. However this year margashirsha month was in December and margashirsha sukla ashtami was dec19. Does JHlite not account for adhika maas ? Thanks ...Satish
Guest guest
Satish, Sun takes the form of Dwadasa (12) Adityas in the twelve signs. At the time of Tithi Pravesha, the basic criterion is that Sun should have the same form of Aditya as at birth. In other words, Sun should occupy his natal sign. Then the tithi should return, i.e. Sun-Moon angular distance should match that at birth. Please read the following article, which is the first in a series of articles published in Jyotish Digest: http://www.srath.com/lectures/tithi_pravesh.htm If one is born in Margasirsha month, the Tithi Pravesha in a year may come in Kartika month or sometimes in Pushya month. The lunar month's name is decided based on the sign occupied by Sun at the beginning of the month. In Tithi Pravesha, what is important is the sign occupied by Sun at the time of Tithi Pravesha and not at the beginning of the month.
