Dear all,

Have a question about the motherland of a person. Technically, the

country a person is born in, will be his/her motherland. But, which

country should be taken in the following case.

Case 1 : A couple from India go to country X for a 2 year assignment,

and a child is born to them. After the assignment, they return back to

India, with the child, never to go back again. Now, by nationality,

culture, heritage, upbringing, and everything else, the child is

absolutely Indian. But, in a legal and technical sense, the child's

place of birth is not India.

Now, when we consider quesitons from an astrology point of view, do

we take India as the motherland, or do we go by counry X ?

Thanks in advance.

Namaste,

Motherland is the land to whose history and culture one associates with.

Definitely, it is the country of birth to be taken for all

astrological purposes. This has been confirmed by learned astrologers.

This is an interesting question which comes up very often nowadays when making a

prediction for people who are settled in a foreign country (say USA) though

originally born and brought up in India. They are now American Citizens and

their children are born American citizens though most often they remain

Indians at heart ( Generally genuine cases of ABCD?).

1) When such a person asks whether he/she will marry an Indian or an American

person and the chart shows the likelihood of a spouse of a different

community/origin – as when rahu is associated with the seventh house and or

some other association with the 12th house, and there is also an indication of

a partner from East or South East direction – then what does one predict? An

Indian Person? Suppose that ”Indian Person” is also an American Born Indian

person then what? Or the Spouse will be a non-Indian, say White American?

2) In a chart of American born Indian person there are indication of settling

abroad and then he comes to India and settles or works in India – so India

becomes overseas for this person? There are many such cases of people who were

born in Africa, returned to India of young age due to political exigencies. How

does one predict such a chart, today? Would this person be advised that he may

be settled abroad, i.e. out of India ?

Dear Pratibha

For all astrological calculations, the place ofbirth is considered

most important. For tajaka, tithi pravesha , birth of place is

important

Dear Vipin & group memebers,

I totally agree with you on this. It has happened to

my own brother. He was born outside India and then

when he was 1, my parents moved back to India. So,

technically, he is living in a foreign country,

although in every other sense he is an absolute

Indian.

So, it is not easy to answer the question, of whether

he will settle in India or outside India.

Now that people travel much more, this is a topic that

needs a bit more study. For such cases, are there any

other parameters to go by ?

Regards,

Pratibha

Dear Pratibha

If one has the Details of the Birth of this child, it may be possible to find

out if the Birth Dasha/Bhukti etc. indicates Long Jouney to a Foreign Country

on the date he/she travelled to India. Could you post these details, and date

of Jouney to India

good luck

Dear Friends,

I agree with this from Jyotish point of view. Emotionally one may be

attached to parent's motherland and call it that. Nothing wrong about

that. However when analyzing a chart, one will have to consider the

place of birth as the motherland.
