Guest guest
hello, this question is for the group. what do most astrologers use with the most success, the mean sidereal year, or the 365.25 day year, when computing vimshottari dashas? i would appreciate as many responses from the group as possible, since these change the timing by 5-6 months, a considerable amount, and i would like to know what is being used the most. thanks, kalidas
Guest guest
I use a hybrid year. I use full solar years, the fraction of the years is converted to Months, the fraction of months is converted to days by multiplying by 30. When such dates are added if I get say 2 months 30 days, then I convert that to March 1st/2nd depending on the Year. Similarly if get 6 months 31 days, then it is converted to 1st july . this way the Difference in Calender date by using 1 year = 365.25 days and this method is only 1 or 2 days. Where dashas durations using 365.25 days per year are concerned, I calculated the Dasha Duration not in Years, but in DAYS. i.e KETU dasha is not 7 yrs but 7*365.25 days... So I get years and days in calculations. These are converted to Calender Dates . --- mahakali108 <mahakali108 wrote: > > > hello, > this question is for the group. > what do most astrologers use with the most success, the mean > sidereal year, or the 365.25 day year, when computing vimshottari > dashas? > i would appreciate as many responses from the group as possible, > since these change the timing by 5-6 months, a considerable amount, > and i would like to know what is being used the most. > thanks, > kalidas > > > > ===== alternate email is raichuranant:Location Bombay India
Guest guest
Namaste, This is a controversy and each group will swear by the fact that they get best results by using either 365 or 360 days. I have found best results by using 360 days civil years. The point is whether the software uses parallax coorection of the moon or not. Most sftwares use geocentric positions , meaning moon is looked from the center of the earth. If one observes from the surface of the earth then the moon position will be differnt and that can make the 5 days /year diffrence. I think if one uses topocentirc positions then may be 365 days/year may work, however if the softwre is using geocentric reference then 360 per year works best. .... Guest guest
Dear group, I would like to add one more question to Kalidas' query... We have the Indian Time taking Alahabad as base. Obviously there will be difference in time for each and every place, other than Alahabad. Now we are considering the Indian standard time as our birth time and getting our chart generated by software - My question is whether the software (JHL) takes care of adjusting the time to the local time and calculation is done for chart preparation ? Wont the local astrologer preparing chart using sunrise and sunset for time, be more accurate ? Vedic astrology is so accurate that even the distinction of twins could be achieved. So difference of very few minutes could change the chart ... Can someone please explain this ? Regards ArvindRaj --- mahakali108 <mahakali108 wrote: > > > hello, > this question is for the group. > what do most astrologers use with the most success, > the mean > sidereal year, or the 365.25 day year, when > computing vimshottari > dashas? > i would appreciate as many responses from the group > as possible, > since these change the timing by 5-6 months, a > considerable amount, > and i would like to know what is being used the > most. > thanks, > kalidas > > > > Mail - 250MB free storage. Guest guest
Dear Arvind Raj All SWs of any consequence take the Local Time of Birth, in fact take the Local Siderial Time for calculating the Ascendent, and other houses. The Local Astrologer, has to have correctly the SUNRISE at place of birth, then only he can proceed. Most Panchangs, which traditional Astrologers use, give the SUNRISE and SUNSET for the particular place of publicaion, not place of Birth. For example, Gujert Samachar published in Ahemdabad, gives Sunrise sunset at Ahemedanad, and the times of settin of signs at Ahmedabad. You cannot use it for a Bombay Birth, without elaborate adjustments. --- ArvindRaj <rajendracholan4u wrote: > Dear group, > I would like to add one more question to Kalidas' > query... > We have the Indian Time taking Alahabad as base. > Obviously there will be difference in time for each > and every place, other than Alahabad. > Now we are considering the Indian standard time as our > birth time and getting our chart generated by software > - My question is whether the software (JHL) takes care > of adjusting the time to the local time and > calculation is done for chart preparation ? > Wont the local astrologer preparing chart using > sunrise and sunset for time, be more accurate ? > Vedic astrology is so accurate that even the > distinction of twins could be achieved.
