Dear Anurag,

It is the same for both Male & Female charts. That is 5th house

counted direct for Odd lagnas.

Since odd/even are also male/female, i think(!), 9th(5th counted in

the reverse) is the controlling house in a female chart. Probably,

this is what makes you to raise the question.

Namaste Sharma Ji,

Sorry to intervene in between.

Let me share what I understand and I would be more than happy if Rao Garu or any

esteemed Guru's correct me if I am wrong.

The controlling house for children in case of Males is 5th house in Saptamsa and

9th house for Females. That indicates the general possibility of progeny or any

problems whatsoever.

So even before you reckon the first child or second child based on the

principles given below by Rao Garu, you should first look at 5th house/

Strength of 5th Lord for Males and 9th house / Strength of 9th Lord for Females

for happiness related to Children in general. And the 5th or 9th lord is a

zodiacal count no matter whether the ascendant is odd or even.

Let me know if you need more details and I will be more than happy to share

whatever little I know.

Regards,

Dear Bharat,

If I may intervene, Look at 9th in female chart in Rasi chart. For

Saptamsha follow irregular count to 5th for odd Rasis and reverse

count for Even signs for both male and female.

so for clarification, for GENERAL overall indications, we look at

the 5th house in rashi for children, in both male and female charts,

and we look at 5th in saptamsha for male charts, and 9th in

saptamsha in female charts, again, for overall indications of

children, ...

but, to look at INDIVIDUAL births, we start from the 5th in

saptamsha for odd saptamsha lagnas, regardless of male or female

chart(and then count zodiacilly every other house), and from the 9th

in saptamsha for even saptamsha lagnas (and then count anti-

zodiacilly. every other house), again, regardles of male or female

chart.

that is my understanding. is that correct?

also, i understand that there are occasions when one has to actually

skip a house and take the next one right next to it instead, so when

exactly does that happen?

Dear Bharat,

Narasimhaji in his lectures clarified that while 5H are 9H are the primary

houses of progeny for males and females respectively, when it comes to

checking the sequence of children in D7, the principle mentioned by Rao

would hold good for both male and female natives.

Kind regards

Ramesh

Dear Saikumar,

Does "Stree Jataka" say that? I would be obliged if you could give me

shlokas from that text giving applicability of 5th and 9th house in

Saptamsha, in the way suggested by you.

I have this doubt regarding saptamasha.

I do follow what you have suggested but i have

Hence i have

question which rule should be given preference.

For example if its an

odd sign and female chart do we still go forward

or we go reverse

cause its female chart. Plz enlighten.

Dear Swee,

Thank you for the input.

In Pt. Sanjay Rath's Commnetary on MJUS, the 9th Bhava from Rashi

Lagna is taken for female charts and then reversed for even Lagnas.

This to add to the Saptamsha situation where the dominant opinion

seems to be that despite the 9th being the controling Bhava for

women, if it is an odd Lagna in D-7, the 5th is still the prime house.

My questions stand.

I use the 5th for both male and female charts in Rashi Chakra but

MJUS commentary of Pt. Rath instills some doubt whether this is the

correct appraoch. When Sanjay Ji uses a technique, I am more inclined

to follow it.

So now the question arises whether in the Rashi Chakra also, the

house in female charts would be dependent on Lagna rising. In COVA,

the counting is contingent on AL and not on Lagna for siblings etc.

Perhaps Sanjay Ji might clarify it.

For me, as of now:

1. I will use 5th in rashi chakra and from Moon for female charts.

2. The 9th will be the controlling Bhava in Saptamsha.

3. For individual pregnancies, I will use the Lagna rising in D-7.

Perhaps if Sanjay Ji clarifies about the examples in his MJUS, the

position about Lagna and counting in Rashi chart will become clear.

Thank you.

Anurag.

Dear Swee,

That is right. One has any way to look at from, between stronger of

Moon, Lagna and according to some Sun, the Bhavas needing one's

attention.

However Stree Jataka states that for a female 9th represents her

progeny. This might have to do with the reproductive system difference

in Men and Women.

8th for ladies is called as Mangalya Sthana, that is why affliction to

it indicates widowhood.

Love,

Chandrashekhar.

Jaya Jagannatha

Dear Chandrashekharji

et al,

I thought

this might be interesting with

reference to Jataka Bharnam,

Chapter 50 pg 811.

>From the

natal Ascendant and the Moon

ascendant is considered the woman’s whole body and from the 7th

house, from these effects, obtained by her husband.

>From the 5th,

those relating to

her issues and fro the 8th house those causing widowhood (ie.,

the

8th from the 7th, which is the 2nd

House).

So the 5th

from the Moon is

also considered if the Moon is stronger than the Lagna.

I hope this

also helps Anurag

Sharma.

I do follow what you have suggested but

i have

go forward. We also

have rule based on even or odd signs of

Hence i have

For example if its an

forward

or we go reverse

cause its female chart. Plz enlighten.

Dear Swee,

I don't have MJUS at hand but somewhere after Page 404, the counting

in female charts, whether zodiacal or otherwise, is reckoned not from

AL but from Lagna itself. Whereas in COVA, the counting for progeny

and siblings in the Rashi Chakra is deemed to be contingent on the

Rashi housing AL.

Thank you.

Dear Anurag,

Namaste

10.0pt">

I’ve found a sloka from JuS (Sanjay Rath) that might give you a clue in

deciphering. Sanjayji further states that for a women, her 1st menstruation chart has to be

drawn up and to be read as her karmic chart, if the chart is contrary to her

natal chart, it is due to her past misdeeds.  The chapter you are talking about has a mixture

of indications. Some also require you to look at the navamsa

or saptamsa and some indications have to be read from

the trimsamsa. I’m afraid your understanding from

it is not as clear cut as you think it is.

As the male carry the genetic pool, why not use the male chart to delineate

instead?

If the tenth (from the

combination in preceding stanza) indicates a female, a daughter is born.

‘Stri’ refers to feminine/even signs or feminine planets

mentioned in stanza 4.4.4. If Mars and Moon are in the eighth house, the tenth

there from is the fifth house. If Moon is placed elsewhere, the tenth from it

should be treated as the fifth house. If feminine signs/planet dominant, a girl

is born else a boy is born. These are the rare cases of posthumous birth like

Hyder Ali or Bill Clinton (U.S. President.)
