Guest guest
Dear Mr. Visti, I am re-posting the following mail, which I feel did not get through. Kindly reply. Sorry, I am late to thank you for your brilliant post on Upapada as a reply to my query. Your explanation about Upapada is very convincing and conveys many important dimensions about it. May I be permitted to say the following : The 7th house is the house with whom we interact as opposites or partners in general. It could indicate a relationship in limited domain or in the form of spouse. The 12H is the 6th from 7H which may indicate the sufferings / struggles as well as a growth profile of 7H - due to natural karakatwas of 6H. As we notice in man's dominated society from ages, the spouse (lady) was more or less a subservient of the men who discharged her karmas as per the desire of her husband (a way of sacrifice as well as a suffering both indicating 6H karakatwas). This is one side of the coin and the other side is what exactly you said about the 12H of sufferings for the native pertaining to his committment to the areas of givings (moral and physical expenditure). While looking to both these angles together, we find that the 12H is the house of Runanubandhan (relationship of debts) and it is perfect to assume that the pada of the 12H Upapada) shall dictate the manifestation of the discharge of debts in practical terms. Additionslly, Jaimini sutras indicate that the spouse's profile may be studied from Upapada which seems correct because 12H may indicate the spous's disease (6H-disease from 7th). Summing-up, 12H indicate sufferings of native and that of spouse at various levels and Upapada does indicate its manifestation. Now, my humble question comes : Why should the native alone fast the day lorded by Upapada and why not it is accompanied by spouse as well, as both of them suffer. Similarly, looking from spouse, there could be a day to be fasted by both of them. In this situation, the partners may land up fasting on 2 days jointly for proper observations of discharging mutual Runas . These my humble observations which may kindly be clarified in detail.
