What is the role of sun sign compared to Ascendant and Moon sign?

Respected Gurujis,

 

 

With my little knowledge, I have come to know that Ascendent

denotes ones all round personality and physical charactersitics and

moon sign shows the mental attitude and temperament. In between this

what is the role of sign sign or what does it signify? To analyse a

person's characteristics, Western people are taking sun sign and we are

taking moon sign. If so, wont one get two different conclusion if the

sun sign and moon sign is different? Can any body help me in on issue?
