Guest guest
JAI SRIRAM Dear Members, Shall Sage Parasara describes variations of vimsottari dasa such as from lagna, utpanna star, keshma star etc or ONLY from moon is appropriate according to his view. Guest guest
II Hare Rama Krsna II Dear S.Venkatesh, Sanjay Rath Ji in His book about Udu dasa wrote that generally Vimshottari from Lagna and Moon should be used (whichever is stronger). If Kendra to Lagna are more occupied then use Lagna-Vimshottari. with regards, Rafal Gendarz

Guest guest
Though we did not find any instruction on different starting point of Vinshottari dasha, in Parasar's Hora Shastar. But there are authorities that permit to do so. Please see, Vaidyanatha Dikshita's Jataka Parijata, Adhyaya XIII, Shlok 33. But different reference points for initiating Vimshttari dasha have their own utilizations. For example; 1) Chandra Nakshatra as reference point, is generally prefer in Jataka (natal horoscopy), specially when it is stronger than lagna and Utpana Nakshatras. 2) Lagna Nakshatra as reference point, is used in Raja Jyotish (mundane events or countries charts). 3) Sun's Nakshatra as reference point is considered in matters of prenatal epoch etc. 4) Kshema (4th) or Adhana(8th) nakshatra from Moon is taken to determine longevity. 5) Name Nakshatra is used in answering horory charts. As a whole Moon's nakshatra works well in practice but it deosnot function in cent percent cases. Hope this would clarify doubts.
