Dear Narasimha ji and respected members

If i am allowed to intervene, kindly find my undersatnding. As

scholars are discussing ,this may only be having an academic value.

Udaya means rise and Asthamana set.Horizon is the reference point

for this w.r to the place of birth and its latitude.Horizon is a

variable and is the tangential point that sets a limit.

For astrological purposes, our ascendant or Lagna is the degree of a

sign that rises in the eastern horizon.Similarly i feel - sunrise

should be the time when the tip of sun's disc rises tangentially or

is VISIBLE in the eastern horizon and sunset is the tangential point

where, sun's disc is fully BELOW the horizon.

The direct efefct of sun's rays will ofcourse be felt much before

sun ''rise'' and is different from sun 'rise'.Brahma Muhurta is the

last yaama. That is the interval during the last 3 hours BEFORE

sunrise.Birds start chirping and some flowers unfold their petals

during this Anthya yaama.Nature wakes up during this time interval

and hence the advise to wake up during Brahma muhurtha, resulting in

unmesha or life/enthusiasm for the day.We are then in sync with

nature.Sun rise is like the unfolding of a thousand petalled

Lotus. The sahasra dalas of Ushus. The last Yaama or Brahma Muhurtha

is also called Saraswati Yaama.Sunrise immediately follows Saraswati

yaama.Learning is a beginning as we begin to learn something which

we do not know.

Kindly correct me and share your knowledge.

Thanks

Pradeep
