We are planning to pierce her ear. Is there any specific time for that. Should we check for muhurtham? My mom says it should be in her odd months like 11/ 13/15. Is that so? Please help. If I were you I would pick a date which intersects with your odd month theory and let me know, then I will run a level 2 search which will focus in on the time of the day. Masa/Month Avoid Chaitra and Pushya, and the 11th Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha to the 11th Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Karttika. Nakshatra Mrigasira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Sravana, Dhanishtha and Revati are favorable. Kalaprakasika also consider Ardra and Chitra as favorable, while Muhurta Chintamani also considers Asvini and Anuradha favorable, all of which should be considered middling. Definitely avoid Nakshatra Sandhi. Tara Particularly avoid the Janma Taras (1st, 10th and 19th Nakshatras from the natal Moon's Nakshatra). Tithi The 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th and 12th are favorable. Avoid other Tithi Vara The Varas of the Chandra, Budha, Guru and Shukra are favorable. In addition to the Muhurtha knowledge given by Guru Ramdas ji, the following (custom driven) may also be useful - 1. It is generally golden needle / wire that is used for piercing the earlobe and then left in the piercing with its ends so twisted that it forms a ring. >From hygiene and health point of view also this seems better to me. Only in rare cases copper is used. 2. It is one of the occaisions when a person of caste / profession other than a Pandit assumes importance. Here, it is done by the goldsmith, if possible; or else by some other elder person of the family.
