So, the Tithi at Midnight has to be 8 Then, even if Tithi in the Morning

(sunrise is 7) if the Tithi

 

at Midnight is 8, It is declared as the Krishna Astami.

 

For Fasting, the normal Rule is Fast till the 8th Tithi Ends. If however, the

Midnight Nakstra is ROHINI then you fast till Rohini ends.
