Guest guest
Dear Narasimha I do not know if you are aware of Avtar Krishen Kaul and his work, but now he has reached the Vedic Astrology list I thought I should give you and the members of the list some information about his work. Each year he publishes an ephemeris claiming it to be the real one, the only one, the traditional Indian one, the 'Sayana' ephemeris, which, (he says) is prescribed in the Vedas. Within the covers of his ephemeris he spends some 30 or 40 pages impertinently ranting on about his case and uttering copious insults against those whose astrology he disaproves of, calling them corrupt money grubbers and such things, while pretending the whole time that he is the soul of piety, quoting the Indian scriptures copiously in support of his view. As an example of his vituperation from his 1999 Ephemeris (his capital letters) 'WE MUST BOYCOTT AND PUNISH ALL THE "VARAHAMIHIRAS" AND "VAMADEVAS" WHO COERCE US EITHER SUBTLY OR OPENLY TO ADOPT NON-VEDIC NIRAYANA RASHICHAKRAS/NAKSHATRA DIVISIONS, AS INSTEAD OF BEING VEDIC ASTROLOGERS OR ASTRONOMERS THEY ARE ACTUALLY FRAUDS ....' Even if the argument he is proposing may be worth examining I think that the list, as well as associated lists, should be protected from his deliberate and destructive trouble-making. Guest guest
Dear Friedns, BEST WISHES FOR SHARAT SAMPAT! Thanks to "Vedic astrologers" and their "Vedic astrology" we have got so far removed from our Vedic moorings that we are oblivious of the fact that at 3-53 am IST of September 23, 2005 (i.e. 22 hrs. 23 mts. of GMT/UT of September 22, 2005) the sun is going to be at a "stationary" point! It was one of the most important phenomena according to our real Vamadevas and Parasharas --- who were thousand times better astronomers than their coutnerfiets of today--- as the latter make it a point that we just turn a blind eye to all such phenomena lest they be caught on the wrong foot and loe their sinful crumbs. This is the Tula Sankranti as per the Surya Sidhanta and even all the Puranas as the day and night are equal on this day --- Tula i.e. the scales!---of the year once again after Vasanta Sampat i.e. Spring Equinox ! Any charities at such particular moments or any japas etc. done at that time are supposed to yield thousand fold results as per our shastras! I am sure you will not find any such results for Lahiri or Ramana or Fagan or Tilaka or Grahalaghava etc. Tula sankrantis (they do not believe in so called sayana phenomena!) which are meant just to make a fool of a gullible man! Common sense also decrees that the Gujarati New Year must start from the first New Moon after this phenomenon! Obvioulsy, Dipavali is therefore on October 2, 2005 and not on November 1, 2005, since you can call the latter just an "almighty Lahiri Dipavali" as it has no real scriptural sanction For further details join http:\\\group\HinduCalednar or at leaast go through BVB6.doc to find the real criteria of our festivals. Guest guest
Shri Brahmadaru Smarami Dear Gordon, Thanks for the useful and timely insight. I think all the lists are subject to unsavoury behaviour from time to time, which diverts the main purpose of perusal of knowledge. The Vedic Astrology ranks high in such diversory behaviour and I hope the list administrators will take appropriate action.
