the beginning of the Kali-age

Dear Vaisnavas,

 

please accept my humble obeissances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

"According to revealed scriptures and astrological calculation, the age of

Kali is in its five thousandth year." (Bhag. 1.7.8 purport)

 

I heard that in the Mahabharata can read the posotion of the stars at the

time of the battle of Kuruksetra.

 

I would like to ask, where are these verses in the Mahabharata, and how can

calculate this 5000 year?

We have other sastric references?
