Guest guest
Dear sirs, I am a new entrant to this group.I joined it to learn the various points of view in reading the charts.I have been reading through all the discussions but I fear that sometimes the discussions deviate to expressions of personal ego.All those in pursuit of knowledge may well recollect the sanskrit saying "Vidya dadati vinayam, vinayat yati patrata" It means that the true yard stick of knowledge is vidya and the yardstick of capability is vinayam. As a retired educationist I am constrained to say this. Regarding the astrology:-Our sages were seers.Based on the conscious levels they attained they had quoted certain principles in reading the horoscopes. To understand fully the significance of what they said we have to enrich our conscious levels by knowledge or by yoga. In twentieth century itself we have witnessed such seer in mathematics-Sri Ramanujam. Many of his theorems in number theory are still not proved. We all resemble people who go the river Ganges to fetch water with the vessels we are carrying. Some are going with a tumbler, some with a small pot, some with a bigger one and in general with vessels of various sizes. Each one can bring only that much water which his or her CONTAINER CAN HOLD.Nobody can bring the whole Ganges unless he is another Bhageerath. So it is always better to listen to all others' views and finally come to your own way by analysis and experimentation.Nobody is greater or superior to the other.Indian tradition is to respect age and wisdom(measured by the vinayam or humility) I wish all those who have attained some distinction in astrology would strive to make astrology more scientific and remove the dust that is gathered around it At the end let me Quote "Aswaplutam,Vasavagarjitam, koopodakam, streenamcha chittam, purushasyabhagyam Devo na janati kuto manushyaha" Let divine Light shine on all of us FareChase: Search multiple travel sites in one click. http://farechase. Yes, I would say that, we need several Bhageeraths like Chandra Hari, PVR etc who could shed light on several aspects of astrology - either by developing software or by solving several fundamental logical issues. We need many others as well who could organize and rearrange the available knowledge in a better way, many others (scientists and the like) who could study things circardian rhythm etc, and many other well versed astrologers who could learn/teach/implement it in a systematic way. > So it is always better to listen to all others' views > and finally come to your own way by analysis and > experimentation.Nobody is greater or superior to the > other.Indian tradition is to respect age and > wisdom(measured by the vinayam or humility) Right! you said it well. But instead of age we should respect wisdom more I feel. Yukthiyukthamupadeyam vachanam balakadapi Anya trinamiva tyajyam vridhadapi sukadapi (Yoga vasishtam) Meaning, If a logically correct thing said by even a child, we should accept it. But if it is not logically correct, even if it is said by an Old man or by a Parent (May be one in the hands of Saraswathy/Or may be it is a reference to the scholar Suka muni) we should discard it. > I wish all those who have attained some distinction in > astrology would strive to make astrology more > scientific and remove the dust that is gathered around > it Yes, I agree with you. > At the end let me Quote > "Aswaplutam,Vasavagarjitam, koopodakam, streenamcha > chittam, purushasyabhagyam Devo na janati kuto > manushyaha" It is curious! I heard another version of the same sloka. "Aswaprevenjabudha garjanascha, Sthreenamcha chitham purushasya bhagyam Avarshananchapyathi varshanam cha, Devo na janathi kutho manushya" (Neethi saram) From where you quoted it? Why these two versions differ? Can you please enlighten me?
