My hearty congratulations for writing such a wonderful post.

om namo bhagavate vasudevayaDear Narasimha and VA members,

Lokesh and a few others were banned for various reasons - I am feeling sad about

this. We really need to consider whether it is good to do such a thing as

banning someone outright as this is like 'capital punishment'. As jyotishi's we

must respect every soul and the treatment given to Lokesh and Surya Rao, even if

they misbehaved, ill-treated others and were most arrogant did not deserve this

harsh punishment. We need to evolve some method of controlling the tamas guna

and helping each other. Perhaps a moderation of posts is called for and

perhaps, we can evolve other means.

Narasimha, do you remember a time in recent history when some people were banned

from another list - a Majordomo jyotish list. I was not among them, yet I

favored the ones who were banned as I thought they were speaking the truth. One

was Raghunandan Goravani (Goravani Jyotish software) and there was another. I

resolved to start a list with them to give an alternate space for free

thinking. So I request you to please not ban anyone without giving them a

chance to cool down like putting them under moderation for a fortnight or so.

In this manner the very purpose of starting this alternative free thinking list

shall continue. Be strict but also please be merciful. They are good souls who

also seek the knowledge of Jyotish like all of us here.

In a recent question about moderating my posts - Narasimha, you have the

authority to moderate my posts, even if I am your Jyotish Guru. Have you

forgotten the test of Raja Harishchandra? Do not fail this test as Vishwamitra

can then be very tough on all administrators - whether of a list or of a

country. You have to be completely impartial. Neverthink that the Guru is

supposed to be treated above dharma. He has to be within dharma. Your love,

respect and above all - adherence to dharma (righteousness alone is the

definition) is the greatest gift for him - be he a Jyotish Guru or a diksha

guru.

To Sreenadh:

You wish that I leave this list and that my students shall be biased towards me.

So, just to give you the feeling of fairness, I will not post to this list for

15 days and shall ban myself. Shall that satisfy you? My next post shall be on

or after 27 Nov 2005.

To all Jyotish Gurus of SJC: There are many mails in this list from sincere

seekers that have gone unanswered. One of the qualities of a Jyotish Guru ( I

believe the quaities are the same as the 21 defining names of Brihaspati -

Narasimha has an excellent translation) is 'dayaavaan' - where is your

compassion? Even with all my load of work and travel, whenever I havetime, I

always answer the queries and help. So please promise me that you will answer

at least ONE person's sincere query today.
