Dear Prabodh,

Namaste,

Activation of Chakras in female body is possible but no Kundalini activation.

Is this a school of thought? Can you explain the difference between kundalini

activation and chakra activation?

warm regards,

Vishnu

Dear Sri Pradeep,

Namaste,

My knowledge is very limited.I can try to satisfy you.I cannot answer all the questions.

No worries, we all have our limitations.

> 1) Does Sushumna Nadi start from/at Mooladhaara?

YES.(At the first chakra (muladhara) is the root (kanda) out of which all of the

subtle energy channels (nadis) originate and go outward throughout the subtle

body. It is located at the perineum, between the genitals and the anus. At this

root is the mouth or opening to the Sushumna channel,as well as chitrini nadi

and other finer nadis that are within the Sushumna, like a fine stream inside

of a fine hose. After Ida and Pingala are balanced, the Prana is guided to

enter and flow into the mouth of Sushumna).

http://swamij.com/kundalini-awakening-3.htm> > 2) Are you absolutely 100% sure

that Mooladhaara is "at/in" Perineum?

YES.(As per numerous scholars .For eg .the above description from himalayan tradition).

No, Sushumna Nadi contrary to popular perception doesn't begin in/at Mooladhaara

and Mooladhaara is not the adhaara(base) chakra. There are 3 chakras beneath

Mooladhaara. In some traditions there are 2 chakras below Mooladhaara. Maybe

the whole set of chakras from mooladhaara and below are called adhaara and that

is what most of the classics are trying to convey.

12) Akula padma11) Ashta dala padma/ Vishu padma(8 petals)10) Shad dala padma(6

petals)9) Mooladhaara padma8) Swadhishtaana padma7) Manipooraka padma6)

Anahaata padma5) Visuddha padma4) Lambika padma

3) Agna padna2) Sahasraara padma1) Kula padma

Akula is a thousand petaled red lotus with its petals pointing up(towards the

sky). Here The Mother is said to reside as Kula Devi/ Kula Kundalini. Sushumna

Nadi starts in the centre of Akula padma and terminates in the middle of Kula

padma at Shashraara in the Head. Sahasraara is a white petaled lotus with its

petals pointing downward(towards the earth). Kundalini is experienced through

Sushumna nadi. Kundalini is also experienced through other nadis, but those

experiences are considered of lower order. Cleaner Sushumna nadi, greater the

rise of kundalini and greater the experience. All padma other than Akula(12)

are downward facing and are generally called "Kula padma". If you are trying to

look at symbolic representations, the curvatures of the crown - downward and

buttocks - upward explain. Sushumna nadi is nothing but "Meru danda" that you

had mentioned and you are absolutely right, it runs from Aries to Scorpio and

Scorpio is the seat of Kundalini Sakti. Sushumna Nadi and Akula are between

linga and guda. 0 degress of Aries is called Brahma randhra/ Bindu Sthana/

Bindu Chakra. There are several other chakras but they are of no use in this

thread.

dwaadashaaMte bindu sthaanaM - When kundalini rises through above mentioned 12

padma it terminates at Bindu Sthana.

Physically(gross body), where are Akula and Sushumna? Sushumna and Akula are at

"Perinuem". Perineum is not in thighs or junction of things, it is between

linga(gross) and anus and Scorpio is its rightful place.

Let us now try to locate Mooladhaara, I am listing some positions I know

Oral tradition--------------1) Vertical Distance between Mooladhaara and Akula

is 5-6 (maybe 5.5) angula.

2) 1 angula above Akula is a Ashta dala(8 petal) red lotus with 8

granthi(knots), in which 8 Matrika and 8 Bhairava reside. This padma is

also called Vishu padma.

3) 1 angula above Vishu padma(11) is Shad dala(6 petals) red lotus.

4) 2-3(maybe 2.5) angula above Mooladhaara is Taijasa padma. This is a 8 petal

yellow lotus with Ananga kusume et al.,seated in each petal Ananga

Kusume -- Desire of flowering Ananga Mekhale -- Desire of girdling

Ananga Madane -- Desire of love Ananga Madanature -- Desire of lust

Ananga Rekhe -- Desire of outline Ananga Vegini -- Desire of sex Ananga

Angkuse -- Desire of insistence Ananga Malini -- Desire of orgy

5) Above Taijsa padma is Swadhishtaana and rest of padma follow order until Visuddha.

6) 4 angula above Visuddha is Lambika padma, Bagalamukhi resides in this padma.

7) Rest follow order to Sahasraara.

Along X-Y axes we can map them as below

Akula padma is (0,0)Vishu padma is (0,1)Ashta dala padma is (0,2) Mooladhaara is (0,5.5)

Let us look at what Sri.Sreenadh had quoted and translated to,

"As per Siva-samhitha-

Gudathudhyanguladoordhvam mendrathudhyanguladadhaChathurangula vistharamadharam varthathe samam

`Above 2 angulas from anus and below 2 angulas from genitals Mooladhara is

located. It covers an area of 4 angulas'.

Therefore it is clear that, Mooladhara is at the middle of Anus and

genitals. That means, the total distance from anus to linga is 2+4+2 = 8

angulas, and that Mooladhara is situated at the middle of the line joining anus

and linga."

in the middle? It just says 4 fingers width, nowhere does it say how it is to be

palced w.r.t either guda or linga!

Looking at this interpretation made you think that we must draw a slant line to

connect them. This is where I think you are making an error. Is this correct

representation of your thinking?

_ | _| | | _| |--------| _| |------Linga |

_| | Guda--------| _| |------ | _| |_|

Based on my understanding of oral tradition and above verse and this is my

representation. Since there is no clear understanding if Sushumna nadi passes

"exaclty through the middle" or just through/touches Mooladhaara. I have 2

representations

1)

Mooladhaara ---------- | | | | | |--------| | |------Linga

Guda--------| | |------ | | - Akula 2)

Mooladhaara --------- | | | | | |--------| | |------Linga

| Guda--------| | |------ | | - Akula

Sri. Sreenadh quotes `Dhyanabindu Upanishad' and translates .

Adharakhye guda sthane pankajam yechathurdelamThanmadhye prochyathe yoniH

kamakhya sidha vandithaYoni madhye sthitham lingam paschimabhimukham thadha

"At the middle of the Chakra that is present in Anus, a lotus with 4 petals is

present. The Yoni (Origin place-Mooladhara) with the name Kama is present

there. It is worshiped by Sidhas (enlightened masters). In the middle of this

Yoni, the Linga is placed in the western direction (perpendicular to body)".

Middle of anus?? I have STRONG reservations against his interpretation of the

verse. "Guda sthana" means area of/around anus, by no stretch of imagination

can it mean "middle of anus". Yoni is mooladhaara???? Yoni in the above verse

means a downward facing triangle and the whole verse is describing yantra of

Mooladhaara. The linga mentioned is not the physical linga(penis), this is the

Svayambhuva(subtle) linga that is in the Mooladhaara and facing West! It also

says Svayambhuva linga is in the middle(median) of the traingle(Yoni).

I can't understand sanskrit much.

I am no adept in Sanskrit either. All I do is read the verse and transpose it to

classical Telugu(mother tongue).

In the shloka ''Athadhaara padmam Sushumnakhya lagnam Dhwajadho Gudordhwam

Chathuhshonapathram, I could see Dhwaja.Dhwaja signifies victory - and we raise

flag on flagstaff(dhwajastambha) during victory. In human anatomy such a synonym

near to anus is clear enough,to understand the linga is my beleief. If I have

made a mistake regarding the understanding, kindly pardon and correct.

Wow, very nice line! ? Full verse? source? Actually you are very close to interpreting this line.

What is the dwajastambha here? Sushumna Nadi!

Your quoted line to the best of knowledge means ,Moolaadhaara flutters like a

square/quadrilateral flag pointing downwards/ upside down(dhwajadho)above

guda(Gudordhwam) clinging(lagnam) to Sushumna. I think my 2nd representation

best explains this. Mooladhaara is considered to be as delicate as a petal. I

will get that verse to you.

Also think of Dhwaja Ganapati(victorius form).Mooladharam is Prithvi tattwam -

and who is Bhoomi Putra? Then should not Mooladhara be in Kshethra of Mars?

And where is the son of Siva and Pravati seated? If in mooladharam can we relate

the term dhwaja somehow. These are just my random thoughts and i can be way off.

Hmmm....are you now saying Moolaadhaara must be in Scorpio/ Mars Kshetra? BTW,

Mercury represents Prithivi tatwa. If we start tatwa-wise placement, Dhanus is

Agni, Vrischika is Jala, Tula is Vayu, Kanya is Prithvi and ruled by prithvi

tatwa planet and closest to vasti. Kanya is an outright winner!

warm regards,

Vishnu

Dear Vishnu Namaste

Chakras can be activated using Mantras and Tantras but will not lead

to activation of Kundalini. Best example is Reki.

Thanks a lot for your Time and Sapce.
