Guest guest
Dear Chandrashekarji, Namaste!!! I don't remember any mention of Rudraksha at all in Sri Garuda Puranam, nor Srimad Bhagavat Puranam. Sri Kamal Seetha of Mumbai is the only person, besides you, who knows so much about Rudraksha. As for astrological relations between planets and different mukhi Rudraksha, I have not read all tantric and astrological books, nor all the Puranas. Smt. Swee Chan, a member here, is going to extremes to search the Puranas for information on Astrology, gems and Rudraksha. I don't know any one else in the English speaking world who is doing as much research as her. Translations of Sanskrit verses are often subject to interpretation everywhere, and reaching a conclusion acceptable to the leading Sanskrit savants is tricky. But if mention of gems is made anywhere then Swee will certainly find that, for all our benefits. To be honest I am only repeating like a parrot what I have read by Rudraksha experts, and I have never questioned their conclusions, such as 1 mukhi=Sun, 2 mukhi=Moon, BUT, I would have thought that 3 mukhi represented Jupiter, whose cosmic number is 3. Instead the experts have listed in order of the week days rather than by cosmic number. If Rudraksha is listed by associated "number" then it would be, 1 mukhi=Sun, 2 mukhi=Moon, 3 mukhi=Jupiter, 4 mukhi=Rahu, 5 mukhi=Mercury, 6 mukhi=Venus, 7 mukhi=Ketu, 8 mukhi =Saturn, and 9 mukhi=Mars. Further, 10 mukhi=Sun, 11 mukhi=Moon, 12 mukhi=Jupiter, 13 mukhi=Rahu, 14 mukhi=Mercury, 15 mukhi=Venus, 16 mukhi=Ketu, 17 mukhi=Saturn, and 18 mukhi=Mars. But that is not what others have concluded. And I cannnot dispute anything about Rudraksha for want of knowledge. If they ever change the RR list to be as above, I'll be the first to accept it!!! Guest guest
Dear Richard ji, As per South Indian system, one should wear Rathna (Gem stone) or Rudraksha only after verifying his/her horoscope. Gems ---- Rasa raja tharangini states: Manayopi cha vijcheyaH sootha bandhayakaraH Dehasya Dharanannrinam jeravyadi vinasakaH (Rasa raja Tharangini) Meaning, all gems relate us with the events of life. If we wear them (after proper horoscope checking) in body they give positive effects such as good health, by destroying diseases due to old age. The general rule followed for wearing Gems is that one should wear the gem of 9th lord, Yoga karaka or the legna lord. (Of course there all many sub rules also observed in the selection of gem, like avoiding the stone of Dusthanadhipa and the like). But there is not even a single sloka that states that we should follow this rule in selecting Gems. Rudraksha --------- Rudraksha is also related to astrology, and in selecting Rudraksha also horoscope should be observed. As per Rudraksh Jabalopanishad: Grahane vishuvee chaivamayane samkrameepi cha Darseshu pournamasee cha poorneshu divaseshu cha Rudrasha Dharanath sadyaH sarva papaii premuchyathe (Rudraksh Jabalopanishad) Meaning, in the day of eclipse, or in the equinox day (March 21), Ayana start day, or when sun transits from one rasi to another, or in the full moon day, (after properly checking the horoscope), then one would be freed from all sins. The general rule for selecting Rudraksha is the same as for selecting Gem. One should wear the gem of 9th lord, Yoga karaka or the lagna lord. (Of course there all many sub rules also observed in the selection of gem, like avoiding the stone of Dusthanadhipa and the like). But there is not even a single sloka that states that we should follow this rule in selecting Rudraksha. Now the next question is how to correlate Rudraksha with planets. The general rule observed is: No. of faces of Rudraksha / 9 = Planet Use this formula to find which planet should be associated with which Rudraksha. (There are some exception statements also available). But I would add that here also there is not even a single sloka that states that we should follow this rule in selecting Rudraksha. But there are many slokas that states the benefits of wearing the Rudraksha with different number of faces. In the present world these things are becoming popular, than other remedies due to some other reasons, which I would like to discuss in another message. Guest guest
Namaskaar Sri Sreenadh In the present world these things are becoming popular, than other remedies due to some other reasons, which I would like to discuss in another message. This statement is very true, as most people are in "short-cut" mode and want quick results without doing much effort. If I ask a person to do japa himself, he starts measuring the time. Then, he/she would ask - how much would it cost to get it done from a pundit! Invariably, their next question is - After doing japa, all will be well? Results being in the hands of the Lord, how can an Astrologer answer this question? Little do many people realize that Gemstone and Rudraksha are no substitutes to improvement in one's action and attitude and devotion towards the Lord. They have a role to play but it should be accompanied with other relevant and forefront measures. Thanks and Regards Bharat On 2/14/06, Sreenadh <sreelid wrote: > > Dear Richard ji, > As per South Indian system, one should wear Rathna (Gem stone) or > Rudraksha only after verifying his/her horoscope. > Gems > ---- > Rasa raja tharangini states: > Manayopi cha vijcheyaH sootha bandhayakaraH > Dehasya Dharanannrinam jeravyadi vinasakaH > (Rasa raja Tharangini) > Meaning, all gems relate us with the events of life.
