Hi previously I had thought that one is a manglik if mars is in

1,4,7,8,or 12th house. My mars is in the 8th house in pisces.

However I have done some more reading and some say manglik is only

1,4,7,12 and others say manglik is 1,4,7,8,12 but can be cancelled if

mars is pisces or sagitarius in 8th house. Also I have read that

other planets can cancel the dosha. I have venus in pisces in 8th,

saturn exalted in 3rd, jupiter in 4th.

I was wondering if someone could enlighten me as to whether I am

manglik or not. Thanks for any help.

Dear stymvjytji:

There is cancellation of mangalik dosha in your horoscope as in your

case, Mars is in 8th house which is Pisces.

I have another clarification also to make for the academic interests

of the learners in this group.....

you have written "Hi previously I had thought that one is a manglik

if mars is in 1,4,7,8,or 12th house." A slight correction in that...

...

Mars in the lagna does not give rise to dosha. Mars dosha arises only

if Mars is in 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12th houses. The relevant slokha is:

"Dhana Vyayecha paathaale jamitre cha ashtame kuja

Sthreenaam bharthru vinaasamcha bharthroonaam sthreevinaasanam".

So, Mars in lagna is not said to be dosha at all!

Blessed be.

Horoscopes are calculated by the ayansmsha and if the ayansmaha is not

correct you will not get the right horoscope. very few people have tried to

see if ayanamsha they are using right or wrong. To check ayanamsha if

correct or not you can just calculate the planetary position of that date

which the native has given the starting point. if the tropical and sidereal

planetary position is exactly same then only you can consider that right

ayanamsha.

check this link for further details

you can write me directly for your horoscope the right one which will show

where is your mangal is placed write me at tarun

and mars in eight house is consider manglik

Dear Dakshinamoorthi ji

the same shloka is published in the books in sanskrit and hindi in

the north starting with "lagne vyaye cha.. and instead of stree

kanya is put. in many hindi and english books and articles published

recently in the north this shloka starting with "lagne vyaye cha"

has been liberally used.

nevertheless, there are so many ambiguities over this mythical

manglik dosha with the sages in their samhitas only giving

individual results of mars. some classics mention if mars is in

these houses, it causes widowhood. but there are as many exemption

rules adding more confusion to this feared manglik dosha.

one of the reasons i observed as the rationale behind a manglik

dosha boy suitable for marrying a girl with same manglik dosha is

because both are "broad minded" and hence there would be less

tension between the two.

with best wishes and regards

arjun

Dear Arjunji:

This erraneous version was brought to my notice by some astro-

enthusiasts in the North already...That is why, I gave the correct

version.

In fact, there is a logic behind assuming certain places in the

horoscope as being afflicted by Kuja dosha.

The 2nd house is the house of family. The 4th house is the house of

character (apart from mother, education, house, vehicles, etc.), the

7th house is the house of marriage partner, 8th house is the house of

longevity in male horoscope/ house of mangalya sutra in a female

horoscope, 12th house is the house of bed pleasures (apart from

moksha, losses, expenditure, etc.). The presence of Mars - an

impulsive planet is not conductive to a peaceful domestic life. That

is why such horoscopes were termed as mangalik.

A person with mars in 2nd house will be blunt, outspoken, and may use

harsh words leading to disharmony in the family.

Mars in the 4th house will lead a person to impulsiveness in

character. These people might be fickle in their relationships due to

above-average libido!

Mars in the 7th house is not conductive for welfare of the spouse.

Mars in the 8th house in a male horoscope indicates that there is a

possibility of sudden and violent death. In the female horoscope, it

is believed to spoil the mangalyathvam.

Mars in the 12th house again gives impulsiveness in relationships due

to above-average libido!

The presence of malefics like Saturn or Rahu along with Mars is

believed to reduce the potency of Mars dosha because these planets

have the potential of drawing away the evil of Mars.

The presence or aspect of Jupiter will cancel Mars dosha.

Apart from this, Mars in its own signs (Aries, Scorpio), and in the

signs of Jupiter is believed to be exempted from Mars dosha.

As you have rightly remarked, matching people with the "So-called kuja

dosha" is better because they can match each other in their "openness

in experimenting various aspects of conjugal life!" (I hope the

euphemism is understood!)

Blessed be.

Pandit. R.DAKSHINAMOORTHI.
