Guest guest
An interesting self yoking ox story. On the Hungarian farm they have a couple of Hungarian Grey Ox that yoke themselves.....well not completely but at least they put their necks into the yoke space. The hungarian yoke is connected to the wagon and there is a space of about 18inched from the yoke and the floor. This is space enough for the ox to put its kneck down and lift the yoke onto its kneck. The second ox only has to bow slightly then to get his yoke in place. the ox man then simply inserts a rod to secure the oxen. the Hungarian yoke has a top piece which is similary to what we are used to in the USA and the UK and then it has a bottom piece parallel to the top. I have just been to the hungarian farm and seen that they are training a couple of young Swiss Tyrollean Grey calves to lift their yoke onto their knecks. Early days but it look promising. ys syamasundara dasa Bhaktivedanta Manor
