Guest guest
It is quite common 'social' behavior to look at someone's face [or photograph] and 'guess' that he/she looks: happy, sad, angry, afraid, content or worried. Many times, we trust our reading of someone's face more than their words when "guessing" their emotional state. When we look at our friend, lover, spouse, children, boss... we often 'correctly guess' their inner state just by looking at their face. Children too show tendency to 'guess' parent's inner state this way. Communication experts say that in face-to-face communication, about 90% of real communication happens via these non-verbal 'clues'! This expression of inner emotions via eyes, rest of the face and bodily gesture is also a widely accepted psychological and [somewhat] scientific fact. People who research these expressions, ably demonstrate the difference in eyes when having a 'genuine laugh' versus a 'forced or fake laugh'! But, when it comes to "spirituality", the typical "spiritual" response is: - what does the face [or photo] has got to do with enlightenment, realization, Inner Peace, Inner Contentment or Inner Happiness? But, if we look at the faces of sages in the same way that we look at the faces of our friends, children, bosses they might 'reveal' few things. Sages like Ramana, Shankara taught that the Self is BLISS and to realize Self, to abide as Self... is to be at Eternal Inner Bliss! Can we then, look at their faces [or photographs] of these sages and see if they really reflect the mark of this eternal inner bliss? To many, Ramana is the model of Perfection and almost beyond human on whom it is impossible to find traces of any 'negative' human emotions like anguish, resentment, unease and stress! < http://www.ramana-maharshi.org/ > Yet, when I look at Ramana's photographs on the site; some of these [negative emotions] are clearly visible in his photographs [especially in his younger age photographs]. In many photographs [especially in his older age photographs], he does look like the epitome of inner happiness, contentment and peace yet, some of his other photographs reflect other humans emotions like unease and restlessness! Guest guest
namaskaram to all, just a few days back there was a discussion here in about our moderators supposedly controlling the postings ... one feels that now the moderators want everything to be posted here - whether it has anything to do with Advaita or Life etc or not. one really need to do a research on what shri Adithya is trying to communicate. We are trying to learn something - from Vedanta or related subject so that it help us in making our life better....one can say that it is to realise the POORNATVAM or MOKSHA or any such vocabulary that relates this with 'SPIRITUALITY'. In the process of learning, we come across topics which ask us " if we are capable of seeing our ORIGINAL FACE ? we are incapble of that...and here, we want to " GUESS" about some one after seeing the photographs... what is the objective of this exercise? this is exactly we come across in the process of our learning...about our projections... which makes a human being different from other living creatures... one need to understand that all GURU's are to be used in the process of our learning process, not " worship" and this tendency that we have ...judging others...also to be contained..though it is difficult. Vedanta is meant for self growth...and it is not to satisfy the society around... but when " self " growth takes place, then the society in total also grows... one need not judge or get into subjective discussions which are most likely to lead into confusion and add more confusion to already poluted minds. that is why - it seems - we are told that the mind is one generator of thoughts...but our FREE WILL can either stop them from sustaining by ignoring, not acting up on , not helping them to grow.. that is growing into maturity.. namaskaram adithya_comming <adithya_comming > wrote: It is quite common 'social' behavior to look at someone's face [or photograph] and 'guess' that he/she looks: happy, sad, angry, afraid, content or worried.
