This idea that there are "angels" and that they "wish they were here" are both just beliefs, and yet such ideas swell by social useage into massive campaigns that guide young people's lives into strange places. Also, if they are in "Heaven", then are they not already "enlightened". Note, now we have four concepts which are unproven, angels wish they were here enlightenment heaven ------ The above is my posting. What I say now is an addendum: Please don't preach to me about my posting. Thanks Rick
Guest guest
sorry, das, for being so imprecise. thanks for catching me on that. i should have said more. and i should have quoted only the part i was responding to... >> We are told that a human birth is so precious because it gives us the >> opportunity to achieve enlightenment. and i can agree with that not because of belief or faith but because of personal experience -- and knowing many others who have the same experience. and that happy face is not happy because of sarcasm, but because i am a happy person. i am VERY happy that there is opportunity on this planet in this age for enlightenment... for us all. i am not much into belief or faith. i am into experience. i trust only my own experience, no one else's and no one's promises of something then and there, either long ago or in the future. but i think i would be foolish to have just doubted and never looked, when all the great books agree that there is something and that all humans who want it can have it. the key is the wanting. and i guess that's what i don't like about some religions -- they say it is impossible to achieve in this lifetime and that you have to wait until after you die to reach it... if that was true, how could anyone have ever written about their experience? and there are writings all over the globe that talk about that experience. simple folk, grand folk, whoever has wanted it, and been willing to have it, has had it. it is a pity that people are driven to search so hard for bliss outside, when it is built-in. if it was not standard operating equipment, even our best attempts to find it outside would fail, because we would not be able to feel it, even if we found a big pile of it out there on our front lawn. the experience of sweetness is not in the fruit, but in the sensation we feel when our own taste buds meet the fruit. if you ever felt good, it's because you are filled with good feelings and something, someone, somewhere, sometime, triggered the good feelings. what testifies to that? when relaxed, your own memories recall the good feelings, even when the person, place or thing is not there. right? the good feelings are there, have always been there, will always been there. they are there because they are what you are made of. those little shimmering, shining, glowing, moving, tiny little pieces of light. enlightenment is becoming aware of the light. it is already there. light is in YOU. light is in us all or we would not dream dreams that are like movies, so real we wake up tingling with love or screaming in terror... movies are happening in us because there is light in there already. our eyes are closed and we see images dance before us. we hear conversation, singing, in our dreams. we feel love, terror in our dreams. so, watching the movie is one thing. turning around and looking into the pure white light that comes through the film, is another. and it's quite a kick. the highest high. or as socrates said, "ABSOLUTE beauty." it blew arjuna's socks off. profound. deep. ultimately satisfying. love, patricia On May 17, 2006, at 10:05 AM, Das Goravani wrote: >>> We are told that a human birth is so precious because it gives us >>> the >>> opportunity to achieve enlightenment.
