Guest guest
Here is my report on Samarth Ramdas Swami, as promised. Warning: the attached file (Ramdas.txt) contains Mayavadi statements that should not be read by devotees. They are there for research purpose only, in order to resolve the controversy around Samarth Ramdas Swami. He was born in 1608 supposedly in a brahmana family in Jaamb village of Marathwada (no idea where that is). At age 12 he ran away from his marriage ceremony to begin his meditation on Gayatri mantra and the Holy Name of Sri Rama. Later he became a well-known sadhu and established many temples of Hanuman throughout India. He is considered by some as Hanumanji's incarnation. In 1681 he passed away, or as his biographer says on his web site, he "was merged in cosmos". His major writings were "Manache Sloka", "Dasbodh" and "Atma Ram", of which he stressed the last two as most important works of his life. Of his writings only "Dasbodh" was available, so I have compiled some quotes from there and placed them in the attached file (Ramdas.txt) for everyone who is interested to make their own judgement. I didn't want to put those quotes in the message itself. They are of highly offensive nature according to our Vaisnava Siddhanta. After my second, and more thorough, evaluation of Ramdas's writings, I have arrived at the same conclusion as before: he is a Mayavadi. If he did write what I have seen, there is no doubt in my mind about him being Mayavadi. If these writings are only attributed to him, and it can be proven, I will express my sincere apologies for having labeled him so. But before such is proven, the label stays. I again beg all devotees not to read any of his poems, for his writings, even if externally appearing devotional and saintly, are indeed poisonous. Please don't be fooled by the presence of Mahamantra in such poetry, it is there for a wrong reason. I hope this resolves the issue. Please write to me privately if you have any questions.
