TRANSLATION

After thus advising him how to worship, Lord Çré Caitanya Mahäprabhu

personally offered Raghunätha däsa the govardhana-çilä with His

transcendental hand. As advised by the Lord, Raghunätha däsa worshiped the

çilä in great transcendental jubilation.

Kusha mataji. Your statement has the weight of your vast experience. But you

may consider that it indeed can be "kala desh and patra".

 

padma purana (you sent me the files, I think) mentions the lord does not

like even flowers without tulasi leaves. This means to employ either a

tulasi leaf put in the flower before offering, or smearing tulasi chandan on

the flower before offering it to the Deities.

 

What about Russia Finland, etc where it's freezing and you're a poor

householder and no nearby greenhouses to beg flowers from? Manasa only? Not

if you have a Tulasi tree in your house!

"One can sow tulasé plants, because tulasé leaves are very important and

Kåñëa has recommended this in Bhagavad-gétä. Patraà puñpaà phalaà toyam.

Kåñëa desires that one offer Him either a leaf, or a flower, or fruit, or a

refers to the tulasé. So one can sow tulasé and pour water on the plant.

Thus, even the poorest man can engage in the service of Kåñëa. These are

some of the examples of how one can engage in working for Kåñëa."

 

So if there is "no flowers" (due to severe cold and (difficult or sporadic

or no supply then, leaves (and why not manjaries then..) could be offered.

After all, during the puja the disciple offers the upacharas through the

disciplic succession to the deities (who are Vishnu-Tattva) and surely even

Radha (who is offered the Manjari or Tulasi leaves only after Krsna was

offered them, can now accept it.) after the deities get it, it (following

Prabhupada's letter to Jadurani) the prasadam goes back down the disciplic

succession.

 

Pretty clear to me, from a pujari's standpoint.

"patraà puñpaà phalaà toyam: He is ready to accept from the devotee any kind

of offering, never mind what. Even a leaf, a flower, a bit of fruit, or a

little water, which are all available in every part of the world, can be

offered by any person, regardless of social position, and will be accepted

if offered with love. There are many instances in history. Simply by tasting

the tulasé leaves offered to the lotus feet of the Lord, great sages like

Sanat-kumära became great devotees. Therefore the devotional process is very

nice, and it can be executed in a happy mood. God accepts only the love with

which things are offered to Him. (BG 9.2)
