Guest guest
Thank you for this mail. The benefits mentioned below indicate that the mood of fasting described is "karma kanda" in nature. In our sampradaya, pure love of Godhead (p.d.s) alone is the goal, any activity done is only with this goal in mind. If we fast on ekadashi or any other day, the purpose is only to give impetus to our sadhana and enhance our smaranam of the Lord (SP explains this in the context of ekadashi fasting). Even going to the abode of the Lord is not really a specified goal for us, since such a desire is inferior to the desire for pure unconditional devotional service to the Lord. ys /and At 09:28 AM 27-03-2000 +0000, you wrote: >This is an extract from the Padma Purana when the golden maiden Ekadashi who >has manisfested from the transcendental body of the Lord is asking for a >benediction: > >The maiden said: "O Lord, if You are pleased with me and wish to give me a >boon, then give me the power to deliver from the greatest sins that person >who fasts on this day.
