Name drdha haile nahi haya pape mati.

Purvapapa dagdha haya, citta suddha ati..

 

As faith in the Lord's holy name becomes firm, the propensity to sin is

totally extripated. All previous sins are then dissolved, and the heart

shines with positive purity.

 

Ati sighra tahara anartha dure jaya.

Hrdaya-daurbalya ara sthana nahi paya..

 

The chanting soon removes the anarthas from one's heart. Consequently,

hridaya daurbalyam (weakness of heart) disappears.

 

Papa ara papabija, papera vasana.

Avidya tahara mula e-tina jana trana

 

Sinful activities arise from the sinful desires in the heart which in turn

sprout from the seeds of sinful desires in the heart. These three are rooted

in ignorance or avidya.

 

[(1) Avidya haite papabija va papavasana evam papavasana haite papa- ei tina

prakara baddhajivera klesa.]..

 

The sinful activity, sinful desires & the seeds of sin are the source of all

suffering (klesas) for the conditioned souls.

 

Sarva jive doya asi' haibe udaya.

Jivera mangala cestha satata koraya..

 

Not being able to bear the sufferings of other living entities such a

devotee (who has developed firm faith in chanting) constantly endeavours to

bring auspiciousness in the lives of others by being merciful upon them.

 

Jivera santapa kabhu sahite na pare.

Jahe paratapa [(2) Paratapa-anya jivera klesajanita tapa.] jaya. Ta'ra cesta

kore..

 

He could bear to see the suffering of the conditioned souls & gives them

help through the process of bhakti-yoga by which the lust to enjoy the

senses is driven from their hearts.

 

Visaya-pipasa ati tuccha mone haya.

Indriyalalasa ta'ra citte nahi raya.

 

Due to his attachment to chanting, he considers the pleasure derived from

sense-objects as insignificant and his mind no longer runs after

sense-gratification.

 

Kanaka-kamini-cesta-prati ghrna kore.

Jatha dharmalabhe tusta thaki' prana dhore..

 

He finds the endeavour to acquire money & women very repulsive and he

follows the path of righteousness, being satisfied in his service to the

Lord.

 

Bhakti-anukula sava koraye svikara.

Bhakti-protikula nahi kore angikara..

 

He accepts only what is favorable for executing devotional service and

rejects that which is unfavorable.

 

Krsna raksakarta ekamatra boli' jane.

Jivane palanakarta Krsna, iha mane..

 

He has absolute conviction in all situations that only Lord Krsna is the

protector, savior and maintainer of his life.

 

Aham-mama-buddhyasakti na rakhe hrdaya [(3) Ei jadadehe aham o mama eirupa

buddhigata asakti.].

 

He gives up the attachment of 'Me' & 'Mine'. This attachment is the main

cause of bondage to this material world.

 

Dinabhave nama laya sakala samaye..

 

These are the symptoms of one who chants the Holy Name always in the mood of

humility.
