Chanting the Name is the only dharma of the Vaisnavas

Namera sarva-mula-tattva

 

The holy name is the primary feature

 

ei cari paricaya-madhye naama taa'ra.

sakalera aadi se pratiti sabaakaara..

 

Of the four characteristic features (Lord's Name, Form, Qualities & Pastimes),

the Lord's Holy Name is the primary one because it awards cognition of the

other three.

 

ataeva 'nama' matra vaisnavara dharma.

name prasphu˜ita haya rupa, guna, karma..

 

Therefore chanting the holy name is the foremost & only religious activity

(dharma) of a Vaisnava. From the holy name gradually blossoms the Lord's form,

qualities and pastimes.

 

krsnera samagra lila name vidyamana.

nama se parama tattva tomara vidhana..

 

The entire panorama of Lord Krsna's pastimes is present in the holy name. Lord

Caitanya has personally declared Krsna's name to be the highest Absolute Truth.
