I have here a translation of the ®r… Nsiˆha Mah€-mantra but the

translation is somewhat different.

I bow down to Lord Nsiˆhadeva who is ferocious and heroic like Lord

ViŠu. He is burning from every side. He is terrific, auspicious and

the death of death personified.

 

 

"This mantra is quoted or at least referred to in many scriptures. The

Nsiˆha Tap€ni Upaniad also give the history of this mantra. In the

last creation the presiding deity was Lord Nsiˆhadeva and this was

the mantra inspiring the entire creation into which Lord Brahm€ was

initiated, as in the present creation the presiding deity is ®r… KŠa

and He initiated Brahm€ into the K€ma-G€yatri. (...)"
