Warning, apology, and remedy

Dear (Former?) Friend/Relative/Associate/Acquaintance or Email Recipient,

 

Please accept my respects. Hare Krsna.

 

Apparently I have unwittingly transmitted the unhappy "Happy99.exe" virus to

you (!) But by the kindness of my good friend Krsna-krpa Dasa Brahmacari, I

am able to provide you a simple medicinal cure:

 

(Since WSOCK32.DLL cannot be changed under Windows) reboot to MS-DOS mode by

choosing the "SHUTDOWN | RESTART TO MSDOS" mode.

 

When at the command prompt, type:

 

CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

 

At the subsequent "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM" prompts, type the following commands

in succession:

 

REN WSOCK32.DLL WSOCK32.BAD

REN WSOCK32.SKA WSOCK32.DLL

DEL SKA.EXE

DEL SKA.DLL

COPY LISTE.SKA C:\

DEL \[name of folder(s) for your email program]\ATTACH\HAPPY99.EXE

DEL WSOCK32.BAD

 

The above is sufficient to stop the worm from working.

 

Please note that the file LISTE.SKA contains a listing of persons who have

received the HAPPY99.EXE file unsolicited from you. It would be good

netiquette to inform them of this unintended misdeed, and also to forward

the removal

instructions to them.

 

Also, please always chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra to make your life sublime.
