Why does everything become impure at the time of eclipse?

Why can't we eat anything when the eclipse starts and why should we take bath

after eclipse is over?

How do we become impure during eclipse is on?

Is there any story behind it and any any scientific or logical reason?

Would appreciate if anyone could answer this question.

one scientific reason that i have come across in a science report on solar

eclipses is that more u.v. rays come to earth because of the refraction of

the sun's rays as they are being blocked.

a learned astrologist once told me that 'bad energy' comes down during the

eclipse, so if one stands chest deep in the water, the water acts as a kind

of 'earthing' to neutralize the effect.

I have heard that in deity worship, placing kusha grass at the deities' feet

during eclipse produces an effect that counteracts the 'bad energy'

these are just some of my thoughts on the issue.. does anyone know more

accurately?
