Guest guest
> can you explain sattvika-bhava-vikar a little more to me? Sattvika-bhava... bhava means a state of being. Emotions are "states" of mind, so "bhava" also refers to emotions. Vikara means an action. When emotion is expressed, it is called "bhava-vikara" Sattvika-emotional-expressions... there are two kinds of emotional expressions, (1) ones that you consider with your mind, (2) ones that just automatically happen. The one's that you consider first are called "anubhava." You feel happiness, so your psyche considers, "how can I express this feeling?" and then, maybe, you dance. The second kind, the emotional expressions that just automatically happen are called sattvika. Sattva is the stuff of existence, the soul. "Sattvika" means that something directly pertains to the soul itself. Ordinary emotions come from the soul/heart, but pass through the psyche and are then expressed. Sattvika emotions come from the soul and reflexivly express themselves without any contemplation from the psyche. For example, fear often causes one to become stunned or almost paralysed. This is a kind of sattvika-bhava. Intense happiness or sadness often causes tears, usually against one's will. So sattvika-bhava-vikara are involuntary, reflexive expressions of emotions directly from the heart without mental intervention.
