I'd suggest that in the West, she is the Great Mother (Magna Mater), the Goddess, worshiped by Babylonians (Ishtar), Egyptians (Isis), Phoenicians (Astarte), Phrygians (Cybele), Greeks (Demeter), Celts and Catholics (Mother/Virgin Mary, Madonna, Our Lady etc). She also has black forms (Black Madonnas). These murtis are sometimes found in earth by a ploughman and they stick to the place where they have been found. There are still popular pilgrimages continuing on her various tirthas (e.g. Czenstochowa in Poland) and many miracles related to her as she fulfills material desires of her devotees (mainly cures).
