Mahanta is head of a Math.Like we have Temple President.I totally disagree with Nayan ranjan Prabhu's definition. Nayan Ranjan prabhu, wherefrom you go this definition? Which dictionary does this meaning come from ? I know you are a very humble devotee but your definition does not suit your humility. I think you have committed 'apradha'. ' Mahanta' is a post given to allevated personality as rightly pointed out by Bhadra Govinda prabhu. Some person on that Mahanta post may be like that as you have mentioned that does not mean the post itself is what you have mentioned. Just like Gurutatva and a person who is a Guru.
