Guest guest
Formerly an asura named K€lanemi had six sons, named Haˆsa, Suvikrama, Kr€tha, Damana, Ripurmardana and Krodhahant€. They were known as the a-garbhas, or six garbhas, and they were all equally powerful and expert in military affairs. These a-garbhas gave up the association of HiraŠyakaipu, their grandfather, and underwent great austerities to satisfy Lord Brahm€, who, upon being satisfied, agreed to give them whatever benediction they might desire. When asked by Lord Brahm€ to state what they wanted, the €-garbhas replied, “Dear Lord Brahm€, if you want to give us a benediction, give us the blessing that we will not be killed by any demigod, mah€-roga, Yaka, Gandharva-pati, Siddha, C€raŠa or human being, nor by great sages who are perfect in their penances and austerities.” Brahm€ understood their purpose and fulfilled their desire. But when HiraŠyakaipu came to know of these events, he was very angry at his grandsons. “You have given up my association and have gone to worship Lord Brahm€,” he said, “and therefore I no longer have any affection for you. You have tried to save yourselves from the hands of the demigods, but I curse you in this way: Your father will take birth as Kaˆsa and kill all of you because you will take birth as sons of Devak….” Because of this curse, the grandsons of HiraŠyakaipu had to take birth from the womb of Devak… and be killed by Kaˆsa, although he was previously their father. SB 10.1.69 In the Caitanya Bhagavata translated by Sarvabhavana dasa, and confirmed by Sri Srimad B. V. Puri Goswami we find Lord Caitanya describing that Devaki Mataji asked her sons to bring back the lives of her sons as They did with the sons of Sandipani Muni. Lord Caitanya says: Once very surprisingly, Brahma was struck by Cupid's arrow. Blinded with lust, he chased his own daughter. These six grandsons of Brahma - who were then just young boys - began to smirk and laugh upon seeing this scene; as a result, they fell down instantly from their godly position. having ridiculed a great personality, they had to take birth in the family of the vicious demon, Hiranyakasipu, who had vowed to live by the sword and put everyone into subjugation. During the following fight between the demigods and the demons, Indra vanquished these six with his powerful thunderbolt weapon and they died after much torment. Yoga-maya then arranged for them to be born one by one as the sons of Mother Devaki. I would appreciate you input. Thank you very much, dasanudasa Rasananda Swami
