Guest guest
Dear prabhus Currently there is a HUGE debate going on regarding intelligent design versus evolution. This has become even more intense when President Bush stated that he felt intelligent design should be taught in schools. This is probably the one thing that all devotees appreciate that he has done!! As far as I understand 'intelligent design' means that their scientifically it is not possible for the complexities in creation to arise by chance. This is being supported by a number of scientists. There is a movie called: "Unlocking the Mystery of Life" which features interviews with many scientsts giving the scientific reasons for ID (intelligent design). The main argument was also presented to Srila Prabhupada in Washington DC by the BI. That being the "bacterial flagellum" a part of the cell so complex and loaded with automata that it couldn't be evolved. Anyway, I want to understand this further since the majority 'intellengentsia' opinion is that intelligent design is not 'scientific'. This is the prevailing view in most articles. I get news feed from google related to 'intelligent design' so I can keep track. Here is the latest quote from Reuters: "Bush's science adviser, John Marburger, was quoted in The New York Times this week as saying intelligent design was not a scientific concept, and that Bush's remarks should be interpreted to mean he thinks the concept should be taught as part of the "social context" in science classes." So it is nice manipulation from the political advisers straining to keep the status quo of darwin's theory. As far as I understand ID is as scientific as Darwins theory and should be taught side by side. ISKCON is supporting ID as shown by this article: Hare Krishnas Weigh in on Evolution Debate: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/171/story_17136_1.html Anyway, my question is: Is there any narrow reason why intelligent design is not considered 'scientific'? I am asking because it seems intelligent design is losing the battle in the press and is being misaligned!!! The press is trying to shoot it down. If they succeed there will be huge repercussions to face in terms of karma. I think this is a major preaching topic. If this is not the right conference then please inform also. I looked through the conferences but couldn't find a more fitting one (that seemed alive). your servant, amala gaura das
