All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Can anyone tell me if they are familiar with a construction such as "atma-smaranam" (or something thereabouts) that would convey the idea, "becoming mindful of one's sinful or fallen condition"? I am curious if there is sastric evidence of a link between something like "atma-smaranam" (in the sense described above) and "anutapa" (remorse or contrition, as found in Bhaktivinoda Thakura's "Anutapa-laksana-upalabhdi," "attainment of the symptoms of heartfelt repentance," from his Kalyana Kalpa-taru). Thank you very much for your consideration of this question.
