Guest guest
Srila Prabhupada wasn't against research per se. See the following quotes. There are many research scholars and philosophers who study sex life or some other subject, but according to Bhagavad-gita such research work and philosophical speculation have no value. That is more or less nonsensical. According to Bhagavad-gita, one should make research, by philosophical discretion, into the nature of the soul. One should make research to understand the self. That is recommended here. >>> Ref. VedaBase => Bg 13.8, Bg 13.9, Bg 13.10, Bg 13.11, Bg 13.12, Bg 13.8-12 Since a devotee also engages in philosophical research to understand the Supreme Person as He is, his activities may thus appear to be like those of a mental speculator, but actually he is trying to understand the spiritual nature and transcendental activities. >>> Ref. VedaBase => SB 3.27.23 I suggest that the word 'siddhanta' be replaced with 'vani' as 'Prabhupada Vani' suggests the particular mode of instruction given by Srila Prabhupada, rather than implying that he had an independent siddhanta, which is of course impossible.
