Guest guest
My Guru Maharaja intimated that Srila Prabhupada had instructed as such, and there is anecdotal evidence to this effect. Guest guest
>Where is the instruction that we should chant this mantra before each and >every round? Anyone? Many years ago (probably 1981) I heard Vegavan prabhu from Sweden say that Srila Prabhupada did not chant the Panchatattva mahamantra before each round. Vegavan prabhu apparently made this observation, when he was serving as Srila Prabhupada's personal assistant. ys Yadunandana das I would also tend to confirm that although I didn't make a habit of sitting and listening to Srila Prabhupada chant; but my impression was that he did not chant the pancatattva mantra immediately before each round of Hare Krsna (of course he could have been chanting it silently). At any rate there is certainly no harm in doing so and I have always done so, throughout the period I was traveling with Srila Prabhupada although I have no idea whether Srila Prabhupada heard me. Your humble servant, Hari-sauri dasa Well, we have the evidence that Srila Prabhupada himself didn't do it. All his japa chanting recording proves that. But as we know there are no hard rules in the matter of chanting the holy name, so if somebody wants to chant the Panca Tattva Mahamantra with each round what's the harm with that. ys Jagat-caksur dasa Devotee (2): Prabhupada, you've..., we've been reading your Caitanya-caritamrta comments, and in the Seventh Chapter and Eighth Chapter, that you've been emphasizing very much this mantra, sri-krsna-caitanya prabhu-nityananda sri-advaita gadadhara srivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrnda You've asked your disciples to chant Hare Krsna mantra at least sixteen times round on the beads. Can this mantra also be chanted afterwards, in addition, also on the beads? Prabhupada: No, no. I have advised that, that sri-krsna-caitanya, this Panca-tattva, must be chanted, but that is kirtana, and this is japa. Sixteen rounds, it is called japa. So, kirtana, when there is chanting, if you chant the Hare..., sri-krsna-caitanya prabhu, then it becomes very clear. There will be no offense. So therefore our process is, first of all chant Hare Krsna, er, sri-krsna-caitanya prabhu-nityananda sri-advaita gadadhara srivas..., you get some strength, then chanting, very..., it will be easy.
