> Below is a small passage from a text consisting of three quotes. I would

> like to know where, ie what verses, they are found, and since I do not

No problem. Grateful for a chance to serve you.

> 'As Srila Prabhupada himself notes in Srimad-Bhagavatam: "The actual self

> is beyond the gross body and subtle mind. He is the potent, active

> principle of the body and mind. Without knowing the need of the dormant

> soul, one cannot be happy simply with the gratification of the body and

> mind.... The spirit soul's needs must be fulfilled. Simply by cleansing

> the cage of the bird, one does not satisfy the bird....

SB 1.2.8p.

> "There is dormant affection for God within everyone.... Therefore we have

> to engage ourselves in activities that will evoke our divine

> consciousness. This is possible only by hearing and chanting the divine

> activities of the Supreme Lord. Thus any occupational engagement which

> does not help one to achieve attachment for hearing and chanting the

> transcendental message of God is said... to be simply a waste of time."

from the next par. (of SB 1.2.8p)

> "The Vedas are not compilations of human knowledge. Vedic knowledge comes

> from the spiritual world, from Lord Krsna."'

Sri Isopanisad, intro.

> Here follows two more quotes that I too would like to know to know the

> source of:

>

> "The scientists say life arose from matter. But they cannot actually

> demonstrate this in their laboratories."

Most probably edited from this passage:

Srila Prabhupada. "To prove that theory, they must be able to inject the

proper chemicals to make branches and leaves grow again. The scientific

method includes observation, hypothesis and then demonstration. Then it is

perfect. But the scientists cannot actually demonstrate in their

laboratories that life comes from matter."

(The Second Morning Walk: April 19, 1973)

> "Our grand spiritual master's desire was that the Westerners would come

> here and develop this place, and chant and dance along with the Indians."

Prabhupada: "...Bhaktivinoda Thakura's great desire was that the Americans

would come here and develop this place and they would chant and dance along

with the Indians."

(His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Prabhupada's

Appearance Day, Lecture -- Mayapur, February 21, 1976)

Hope this helps.

Your servant, bh. Jan
