Guest guest
41. Some people say 'time is money'. Is it true? The statement "time is money" is not correct. But the statement "time is precious" is very valuable. Instead of thinking that life or time is the giver of temporary material benefits, we should spiritualize the time, that is, we should engage our life or time in the service of the Lord. While remaining busy in various worldly activities, we must also pay attention to our spiritual advancement. Money is good if we can have it in exchange of sense gratification. Money must be spent properly; otherwise, it will simply increase our anarthas, material existence. It is an act of intelligence to utilize wealth in the service of Narayana, the Lord of wealth. That is the proper utilization of wealth. Wealth is the father of all enjoyments; therefore, wealth must be used in the service of Lord Madhava. If our hard-earned money is not spent for a spiritual cause, then the same money will be the cause of our degradation, ruination, and death. It will make us forget God because material enjoyments clears the path of destruction. Joining hands with material enjoyment, often the atheists inaugurate the exhibition of an increase in people's sense gratification, and sympathy for others, as the price of sense gratification. Rich people often save their hard-earned money for their descendants. But their descendants in turn finish all their wealth in a moment by misusing it. In this, they go to hell and send their forefathers to hell as well. (from Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Upadesamrta)
