Hare Krishna!

I have come across a Ramayan translation that I'm trying to find out the

name of the translator for and who if anyone has published it. It's a

complete translation and seems to have been done by an ISKCON devotee. The

forward begins with the following words:

”The original R€m€yaŠa, related by Lord Brahm€ in one billion verses, is an

account of the pastimes of Lord R€macandra. That R€m€yaŠa was later

summarized by N€rada and related to V€lm…ki, who further presented it to

mankind so that human beings could attain the goals of religiosity, sense

gratification and economic development. Therefore, when we speak of the

authoratative R€m€yaŠa, we are specifically referring to V€lm…ki R€m€yaŠa.

It is important to note from the outset that while there are many renditions

and so-called interpretations of R€m€yaŠa, or histories of Lord R€macandra’s

activities, some of them are not actually authoritative. Sometimes Lord

R€macandra’s activities are described in terms of one’s own imaginations,

speculations or material sentiments. But the characteristics of Lord

R€macandra should not be handled as something imaginary.

®r…la [NKd1]Prabhup€da comments, SB 9.10.3, “Modern R€kasas, posing as

educationally advanced merely because they have doctorates, have tried to

prove that Lord R€macandra is not the Supreme Personality of Godhead but an

ordinary person. But those who are learned and spiritually advanced will

never accept such notions; they will accept the descriptions of Lord

R€macandra and His activities only as presented by tattva-dar…s, those who

know the Absolute Truth."

Also at the end of the forward it mentions:

"All quotes and footnote references are from The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust

International."

If anyone could inform us who the translator and publisher (if any) is I

would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you.

Vaishnava kripa prarthi,

Madhavananda Das
