Depending on a source, Mahi Ravana is supposed to be either brother or son of Lanka Ravana. One version of this story I found in Puranic Encyclopedia (reference given is Kamba /Kamban, Kambar/ Ramayana in Tamil) and another is in Bengali Ramayana by Krittivas Ojha. Interesting is that similar type of difficult-to-kill character is found also in Russian and possibly other lore. Hope this helps. Your servant, bh.
