Hare Krishna,

PAMHO, AGTSP

One will receive the mercy of the Goswamis and compassionate followers of

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by obtaining their association. That association is

available in their books, in the books describing their activities, in the line

of their followers, and in their samadhi sitting in Vrndavana. Remembering the

Supreme Lord Krishna and His pure devotees is a powerful form of devotional

service called smaranam. Hence, a devotee will make spiritual advancement

simply by remembering and praying for the mercy of the departed Vaisnavas. The

mercy of the Vaisnavas is absolutely essential in order to attain the goal of

human life i.e. eternal service to Sri Sri Radha Krishna.'

One becomes purified of material contamination and attains love of Godhead by

chanting the holy names of Lord Sri Krishna and Sri Krishna Caitanya. Because

the Lord and His pure devotees are non-different, one also becomes free from

sinful reactions and spiritually elevated by chanting the names of Lord

Caitanya's loving associates. Srila Krishnadas Kaviraja confirms this in

Caitanya-Caritamrta Adi Lila 12:92,

"Yan-saba smarane pai Caitanya-carana, yan-saba-smarane haya vanchita purana,"

'Simply by remembering the names of Lord Gauranga's eternal associates, one

gets the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and all his desires become

fulfilled'.

One must take shelter at the lotus feet of a devotee mahatma and treat him as

the most exalted well wisher of all human society. We should take shelter of

such a mahatma and ask for his causeless mercy. Only by his benediction can one

be relived from attachment to the materialistic way of life. C.C. Madhya Lila

22:51 "mahat-krpa vina kona karme bhakti naya Krsna-bhakti dure rahu, samsara

nahe kasya"- unless one is favoured by a pure devotee, one cannot attain the

platform of devotional service. To say nothing of Krishna bhakti, one cannot

even be relived from the bondage of material existence.

On 19th Sept. is the appearance of Sita Devi consort of Sri Advaita Acarya.

Kindly, glorify by reading her short biography and ask for her causeless mercy.

Sita Thakurani

Sita Thakurani lived in Santipur as the eternal wife of Sri Advaita Acarya

Prabhu. She was always absorbed in vatsalya-prema (parental love) for Sri

Gaurasundara. Just after Sri Caitanya's appearance, Sita Thakurani came to

Mayapur. She brought a basket full of dresses, ornaments, silken children's

cloths, jewelled necklaces, and tiger nails set in gold. To worship the golden

baby she also brought auspicious articles such as fresh grass, turmeric, kum

kum, and sandalwood. The wonderful name 'Nimai' was given to the Lord by Sita

Thakurani.

Ädi 13.111 - One day shortly after Lord Caitanya Mahäprabhu was born, Advaita

Äcärya's wife, Sétädevé, who is worshipable by the whole world, took her

husband's permission and went to see that topmost child with all kinds of gifts

and presentations

Ädi 13.112 - She brought different kinds of golden ornaments, including

armlets, necklaces, anklets and bangles for the hands.

Ädi 13.113 - There were also tiger nails set in gold, waist decorations of silk

and lace, ornaments for the hands and legs, nicely printed silken saris, and a

child's garment, also made of silk. Many other riches, including gold and

silver coins, were also presented to the child.

Ädi 13.114 - Riding in a palanquin covered with cloth and accompanied by

maidservants, Sétä Öhäkuräëé came to the house of Jagannätha Miçra, bringing

with her many auspicious articles such as fresh grass, paddy, gorocana,

turmeric, kuìkuma and sandalwood. All these presentations filled a large

basket.

Ädi 13.115 - When Sétä Öhäkuräëé came to the house of Çacédevé, bringing with

her many kinds of eatables, dresses and other gifts, she was astonished to see

the newborn child, for she appreciated that except for a difference in color,

the child was directly Kåñëa of Gokula Himself.

Ädi 13.116 - Seeing the transcendental bodily effulgence of the child, each of

His nicely constructed limbs full of auspicious signs and resembling a form of

gold, Sétä Öhäkuräëé was very pleased, and because of her maternal affection,

she felt as if her heart were melting.

Ädi 13.117 - She blessed the newborn child by placing fresh grass and paddy on

His head and saying, "May You be blessed with a long duration of life." But

being afraid of ghosts and witches, she gave the child the name Nimäi.

Ädi 13.118 - On the day the mother and son bathed and left the maternity home,

Sétä Öhäkuräëé gave them all kinds of ornaments and garments and then also

honored Jagannätha Miçra. Then Sétä Öhäkuräëé, being honored by mother Çacédevé

and Jagannätha Miçra, was greatly happy within her mind, and thus she returned

home.

In Krishna lila, Sita Thakurani is Yogamaya or also Paurnamasi. At Krishna's

birth ceremony she gave many instructions about childcare to Nanda and Yasoda.

Similarly, in Gaura lila Sita Devi would often help Saci Mata nurture baby

Nimai. Sita Devi and Saci Mata were of one mind; their life and soul was Nimai.

Because of Sita Devi's pure parental love, Saci Mata often chose her as the

first person to worship Nimai Pandit during any auspicious ceremony.

Later Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Sri Nityananda Prabhu often came to Santipur

to visit Advaita Acarya and Sita Thakurani. They would collect all the

neighbours and hold an uproarious festival of Krishna nama-lila kirtana

extending late into the night. When Lord Caitanya moved to Jagannatha Puri

Advaita Prabhu and Sita Devi would regularly visit Him.

Sita Devi would cook Mahaprabhu's favourite food and offer lunch to the Lord.

Sita Devi loved Lord Caitanya as a son and He loved her as His mother.

Sri Sri Sita Thakurani !!
