Guest guest
Dear devotees, Please be kind enough to send me a list of scriptural quotes that speak of the duty and absolute care for the young. I need as many sastric quotes as possible for an upcoming project. Please note that it is mainly scriptural quotes that are needed for this project. Srila Prabhupada's purports/sayings are not strictly required, but they would be nice to read and to share with all the receiving devotees. Please help me in this regard. Hare Krishna! It was recently printed in the perpetual Calendar that Daivashakt prabhu published. A very unique and nice calendar. I am sure that reading it brought tears to the eyes of many mothers who were directed in different directions years ago. Looking it up in the vedabase for the complete letter was insightful as well. It appears from the letter that Srila Prabhupada was feeling somewhat of a responsibility towards the children, due to disciples who had some anxiety over parental responsibilities compared to more "important" service. Maybe that attitude was encouraged from our society that didn't recognize the importance of caring for the next generation or maybe it was mothers not prepared to be parents. Seeing all the perspectives of this issue and bringing them into discussion would be a good avenue for further healing among the generations. I am in due receipt of your letter dated July 19, 1972, and I am simply surprised that you want to give up your child to some other persons, even they are also devotees. For you, child-worship is more important than deity-worship. If you cannot spend time with him, then stop the duties of pujari. At least you must take good care of your son until he is four years old, and if after that time you are unable any more to take care of him then I shall take care. These children are given to us by Krishna, they are Vaisnavas and we must be very careful to protect them. These are not ordinary children, they are Vaikuntha children, and we are very fortunate we can give them chance to advance further in Krishna Consciousness. That is very great responsibility, do not neglect it or be confused. Your duty is very clear. I think when the whole letter is seen, the proper perspective is seen, not the words "for you", based on a letter Arundhati sent Your servant, Ananta Purusottama das .
