Krsna, Kristos, Christ

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

A question came up in our debate with local Orthodox Christians.

They strongly contest the statement made by Srila Prabhupada in the Science

of Self-realization "Krsna, Kristos, Christ" that the name Christ and the

name Krsna have the same etymological meaning.

To them, it is an entirely false statement as the name Christ is derived

from Greek "christos" meaning "the anointed one".

Could anyone please elucidate on the supposed historical and linguistical

connection between the two names and on the basis for Srila Prabhupada's

statement?

Begging to remain,

your servant,

Madana-mohana das
