Guest guest
Hare Krishna dear devotees, please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! I understand that some men are qualified to take sannyas and to stay in that ashram, as we have practical examples of this. Still, I keep hearing from devotees that it is not recommended for most men take sannyas in Kali Yuga... yet I haven't heard a scriptural reference which directly states this. Can anyone provide it? Or... perhaps such a reference is irrelevant since we are not actually in Kali Yuga yet(?) Your servant, Syama dasi. >Accompanying Prabhupada on his walk were SyamasundAra, Ara vinda, and the >Paris temple president, Hari-vilasa. The spring morning was sunny, and >Prabhupada, walking with his cane, appeared noble. >"Syamasundara," Prabhupada asked, "Why are all the householders in maya?" >When Syamasundara couldn't reply, Prabhupada said, "That's all right. That >is their position-to be in maya." >He said that when he had gone to America his plans had been to make >sannyasis, but when he saw the free mixing of the sexes in the West he had >decided to let his disciples first get married and have a child, and then >the wife could go to Vrndavana with the child, and the husband could take >sannyasa.
