Guest guest
Dear Prabhu, _/\o_ > My calendar indicates that the Purnima, (Jan. 9) is Sri Krsna Pusya > abhiseka. Can anyone tell me what this occaision is or something about it. If you look at the "festival.txt" file accompanying the Vedic Calendar (vcal401) program (downloadable from iskcon.org/calendar) you can read this: Krsna Pusya abhiseka -- During the morning puja, or worship, the Deity or a salagrama is bathed in pure ghee. Srila Prabhupada once explained the festival this way: "Krishna was just a toy in the hands of the Gopis, so one day the Gopis decided that we shall decorate Him. Pusyabhisheka means a ceremony to decorate the deity profusely with flowers, ornaments, cloths. After there should be lavish feasting and a procession through the streets, so that all the citizens should see how beautiful Krishna appears." In this file other Vaisnava festivals are described. Hope this helps ys bh. Jan
