Presumably they must have got a human body there and then as the procedure was supposed to demonstrate the efficacy of the mantras being chanted. Would they get the body of a baby, youth or what? Would they be considered the son of the purohit or yajaman? Does sastra give any more details? It must have been a fairly common procedure because yajna was the yuga dharma in Treta yuga, and this would have included a good number with sacrificial animals.
